Hey guys, just wanted to post some pics of my recently completed garage facelift. Thank you to everyone for the inspiration this forum's provided!

Before: Not the best shot but you get the idea - basic sheetrock was hung and had toolboxes pushed up against the front wall.

Progress:
At this point I had most of the mud done, bench built, cabinets painted to match the toolboxes, steps were 'faced' (front panels on them) and the door trim was finished with putty and primer.

Here you can see the walls are primed, ceiling finished, fan hung and first 'cut' work with the paint was done.

Color complete

Starting to organize (bright spot is an old road sign) and the runner is installed on the garage steps

More progress cleaning/organizing - worse lighting

The fan wasn't quite sufficient for detailing and real work so I added 2 48"x2 flourescent shop lights - This is also a better shot of the fan and the extension cord reel that I repaired (free from neighbor) and installed.

Finished:

Given that I had the cabinets (spray paint refresh), tool boxes and compressor -- built the bench, 'floor boards' (between concrete and drywall) and finished the steps myself, picked up the paint at the local Habitat for Humanity 're-store' and got a sweet deal on the TV used the total budget came in under $250.

I'll take some proper pictures with a proper camera once I get the few wall accents I've planned up.

Enjoy!

Looks great. That workbench will fill up fast. Doesn't matter how much workbench space I have it always fills right up.

Not here sir, I am a KING of anti-clutter. If something doesn't have an organized home I either need to find it a home or get rid of it.

the garages at night post inspired me to take an updated shot so here are some things that have changed...

1. another bike hook
2. more bench space on the right
3. beer fridge (repurposed free wine fridge) - and storage space underneath for my oil catch pan (hinges on top, right underneath fridge)
4. Guinness prints on the walls
5. ran the TV cabling behind the wall...
6. Texaco sign...
7. Z4 :)

Nice work on your space especially with a very limited budget. I'm the same way, especially during my current garage re-org. I can't stand something sitting where it doesn't need to be and adds to a cluttered look. I annoy myself with the compulsion though hahaha.

How are you liking the RVR?

It's... It's useful, it holds lots of ****, can tow light things has four doors, seats and gets me from point A to point B... and it has AWD, generally it's a boring drive and completely unremarkable, gas mileage is meh but overall for $20k you can't beat the functionality and value.

Here's a better pic of it in it's current state

I drive myself mad with organization OCD but I look at it as a good thing because I rarely lose stuff and have really added a whole lot of ease to my daily life with a simplified purposeful approach to holding on to (and purchasing) things.

Thanks for the compliments, gents.

I took a buddy to check the RVR out and the biggest selling point the salesman stressed was the extra space under the hood to help absorb a front-on collision. He went on and on about it for days. I agree, they are a practical and economical choice.
