Just a heads up (opinion) on weather or not to Tyvex or not. On my new steel sided pole barn I was on the fence whether to wrap or not. There are many different opinions on here. I would need 3 rolls to do mine, so around 475 in materials, builder would install for no extra charge. I am planing to finish and insulate the inside in the future. Well after going back and forth I pulled the plug and did it, here is my thought. It was money well spent. I had no idea how much air infiltration comes in thru the seams before now. When there is a slight breeze I can hear the wrap "rattle" telling me that I am now keeping that much cooler air out, increasing the efficiency of the insulation when installed. Plus i read somewhere it is rated at a R-3.
Just thought I would pass that along for anybody that might be on the fence.

Tyvek house wrap doesn't have an R value, per the DuPont website. They do make another product called Tyvek ThermaWrap that they say has an R value of 5.0.

My builder required a wrap or poly if I was to use spray foam for insulation. They said if the spray foam is on the metal it will void the rust warranty due to possibly trapping moisture.

I believe it. It has to be geography specific. There are a ton of hangers up here 10+ years old done in foam, no moisture /rust problems.

If you were to spray closed cell, not sure how they'd claim it traps moisture.

Thank you for the correction, I could have sworn I had read it somewhere but I guess i was confusing that statement with reading about another product.

I can tell you first hand that Tyvek DOES make a difference. My new 24x32 is wrapped. I have been in the garage during 2 recent storms with enough wind to take trees down. NO air movement at all and I have no insulation yet.
