:)

can you get these in a size 19 or 22mm as they would be handy for starting off wheel bolts and nuts when they are deep set ?

Don't think any nutdrivers go that large. The Bondhus range tops-out at 13mm, which is par the course for spinners.

I went and got a B&Q trade card yesterday, but the NWS Combi pliers at half price were out of stock. Ended up with with a nice set of Wera Hex Keys for £25 though :)

Oooo first 3/8" drive Facom new style I've seen. Good find.

These new set's seem really good value don't they. If you shop a bit
clever you can get a 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" set for less than £250

I would say that's quite a bargain.......... But then I would, wouldn't I :D

A few Facom admirers amongst the British contributors - I guess we are the least likely nation to moan about the COO moving from France to elsewhere!

Tempted to buy a set of these:

0_54529100_1300697267s.jpg

But at over £160 for a set, including at Facom friendly places such as Primetools, I let the idea go.

Then I stumbled on this on eBay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/380419667...WAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2648#ht_500wt_987

:shocking: £84.99 for a set (6 - 17mm) is nearly half the price of anywhere else on the web, even if the outer packaging is shop-soiled. Only 5 sets in stock and 1 of them is for me!

I agree with others, this thread is going to hit my wallet hard.

Already on my watch list. The problem is that I know if I get those I'll only want to buy some larger sizes as well - a dangerous path to set out on :)

These are also on my watch list too... :D

I could have used a set when I did my sisters cam belt to remove some recessed
bolts that didn't have enough clearance to get a socket and ratchet in there, but
I managed to get in there ok with a deep ofset spanner... I been thinking about
adding the Halfords vortex sockets to my tool kit, that would give me a very low
profile socket set and pass through capabilities, then combined with the deep offset
spanners I think it might make these Facom socket spanners a bit redundant, thats
why I haven't bought them.

Is there a use for these that the vortex pass through low profile socket set and
the deep offset spanners couldn't manage..? I have been thinking hard and haven't
come up with anything yet.

Borrowed some for the first time yesterday and I found them very handy and a joy to use. Only long-term ownership will reveal their full utility, so I am taking a bit of a gamble but for the price I think it is one worth taking.

Back to the hot deals!

Those look pretty good actually - I'll have to keep an eye out for when they go on sale.

I have the Halfords Vortex and use them almost exclusively for low height situations alone. Not broken one yet, but they don't feel that strong.

My bench comparison with Wera, Facom Flex, Vortex, Halfords Pro and Facom Sealed Pear ratchets in 3/8" with 17mm sockets:

They are a good deal at offer time or with a Halfords trade card.

How much does a trade card get them for?

With the trade card the 30 piece set (3/8" & 1/4" metric) was about £30 against a sale price of £39.99.

The full list price for the 30 piece set is (having looked it up) currently £59.99 but like all tools at Halfords they seem to spend more time on sale than full price.

The warranty situation on these can be a bit weird as whilst they honoured the 'lifetime' on a friends busted extension, the replacement came marked as Gearwrench. The store said all the replacement Vortex parts came marked as Gearwrench or Draper. Could make it interesting getting it exchanged should it break again!

Still, would always get Vortex from Halfords due to the lifetime warranty.

Cheers CanUK, a good spot. Not many stock the Wera Hollow Shaft version but I cannot see the point of solid shaft. I think the 7 pack contains all the metric nut drivers Wera make (they have a similar range in inches) so if you need in between sizes then look elsewhere. Bondhus seems to have the largest range of sizes in HO format in the UK (well, excluding the cheapo end of the market).

They are on my Amazon Wish List as £33.45 is a good price for a great set of drivers. Wera screwdrivers have already taken over my tool draws and I am starting to look like a brand fan boy.

It is a shame we don't get the full Wiha range in the UK but the Bondhus and Wera drivers are desirable items.

Might have to sell my Wiha nut drivers to get that Wera set! As you say the hollow shafts would prove much more versatile.

Anyone seen a good price on a set of circlip pliers?

I was sure I'd spotted other sizes but it was very late last night -maybe it was the solid shaft version I was looking at then. If I can find it again I'll post up.

For me the hollow shaft feature is not critical - mostly working on motorcycles so not running nuts down a bunch of exposed thread. I figured at this price though it'd be worth having a set just in case.

I popped into the car bot quickly today after picking up my new old tool cart - dug out a few screwdrivers and also a nearly new Facom 94A 10mm hollow shaft dnut driver (clear orange handle).

These ones might be worth keeping an eye on Will... Not many people know about Mannesmann, so may go for a good price.

I thought Mannesmann were cheap tools with a bogus German name - like Bergen? I have no experience myself just what I thought I'd read elsewhere on this forum.

I was under the impression that they are an actual German company and
produce mid grade tools (imported). I am quite happy to be corrected
though... I do not own any of their tools.

Well spotted...we now have the new 3/8" drive style Facom socket sets available in 6 point, (12 point on order). Although I am afraid that our guy listed them on eBay without taking into account the Vat, so the price has risen.
But we now have them listed on our main website at a special price of £77.95 + Vat (Price is for the 1st batch only and is likely to rise within a couple of weeks).
However, we will try to honour this for longer for Journal members - please contact us. Also, if anyone is looking for each of the 1/4", 3/8" & 1/2" sets as a special deal, please let me know!
Also, I will let you guys know when we eventually get the "Voucher system" working on our checkout and let you have the codes so that you get the best deals.

Got an Order Dispatched email today -fingers crossed for tomorrow!

Spanners arrived today. I thought "Jeez this package is heavy!" then remembered that for the grand total of £0.01 I had added to my order "Quarterly Promo Flyer (Pack 25)" - and you guessed it I got a huge stack of the current ProTool promo flyers. Anybody need a copy? It's not brilliant - mostly Britool Expert **** this time around...

I ticked that as well as the stickers, I didn't really think they would send a whole pack tho!

The stickers were out of stock unfortunately.

Voucher system would be welcome, but I am still sobbing at missing the original (accidental) price.:Violent:

Ah well.
