Unfortunately that's the nature of Amazon prices. I think the price gets automatically lowered when there is only one item left in stock or there has not been any interest in an item for a while and the price goes back when one is sold. You could subscribe to the thread so you get an email every time there is a new post.

I would assume that most people would also need a 19mm which adds another £30-40 so not cheap but I was a little tempted before I came to my senses. :p

Can get a set of long hazets 10-19 for around the cost of these basic snap-on spanners.

When the price isn't inflated on the hazet set that is..

16-18 isn't as common but still comes up alot in cheaper cars as they can save a penny or two instead of using 17-19 bolts/nuts.

I have seen the 18 on German cars like old VW and AUDI. I wouldn’t have thought the cost cutting could go so far but nowadays they probably do.

Today really shows, early 2000 to mid 2000 french cars show it, when we have two Peugeots same year, same model same engine, no two things are the same.

Reault are the worse for using cheap fasnters always throws me off something that looks like a 17 turns out to be 16, then rounds off due to been extremely soft, or rusted.

The Renault truck fleet I work on as well all the wiring is white, has identification numbers every metre of wire, melts alot seen a few cabs go up by their self's due to the poor fuse boxes connections.

16 is very common on Peugeot/Citroen, at least in the 205GTI era, 18 comes up fairly often on VAG and French stuff.

Strange how different manufacturers favour different sizes, I dont think I have ever used a 14 or 15.

If you work on Japanese motorbikes you will regularly use 14 but NEVER thirteen and I don't recall 15 or 16 either. 17 is pretty common too.

Needed 18mm for Astra brake caliper pins today so I guess it's one of the most common used sizes in the UK as every other car seems to be an Astra.

Mechanix gloves clearance at Homebase.

Picked up a padded pair and 'general purpose' pair today for just over £10. Used the general purpose pair (£3 ish) in place of the cheaper gloves (99p HSL Direct) I normally use. The Mechanix are a little thicker and have a grippier texture on the palms.

Amazingly after wire brushing all the **** off the rear brake calipers and refitting the pads etc my hands are still clean.

Cheapest place I have seen those gloves, normally £15-20 online and £20 in stores, I wouldn't be surprised if homebase are shutting some stores, they might be introducing a new line, or just shutting the whole thing down ruff times in the UK.

Looks to have been just a pricing error with the Hazet set. My payment was refunded today. I would assume/hope there is some buyer protection as long as the payment goes via Amazon. Interesting scam. I take it they ask for direct payment via bank transfer or something?

Vendor with cash flow issues? Cheaper than a payday loan!

This seems to happen a lot with tools, maybe I just don't browse other categories as much

I think it's mainly the automated pricing software that makes mistakes sometimes.

The items are gone and prices change exactly because someone got to them. That is the point. Warehouse deals by definition are very limited supply, usually only 1 or 2 available, which is why they get a post in the permathread instead of their own thread.

As mrspeed said the price goes back up because someone or some people got the deal. For example, I posted recently VBW wire strippers. Three in stock at the time of posting. I checked back a few mins after posting here and they had all sold. They had been on Amazon at £3.04 for four days with non selling but sold out minutes after posting here so I assume they sold to GJ members which to me made it worth posting. The low price impulse buy type Amazon deals will disappear in a few mins. Other deals like the Facom rotator ratchet posted five days ago is still available and the price is still going down bit by bit. The price will probably keep going down until someone buys one which will trigger the price to go back up.

Homebase in Guildford was shut down a couple of weeks ago. They had a sign saying only this store was affected and almost all items were discounted for a month prior to closing down.
