That is a bargain (assuming they're reasonably good). Do you need to be a tradesperson or member to use Tradepoint?

I had this Bahco spanner set as a free gift when I bought Bahco impact socket set for 50 or 60 quid (now discontinued). The spanners are made in Argentina and I can't fault them but the finish is really rough. I think £22 from B&Q is the right price for them as they came factory boxed as a whole with sockets and were not just thrown in by the seller to sweeten the deal.

Those Bahco sets at FFX are Taiwan made. Much nicer finish than the Argentina stuff, but nothing special. For that price they could be a good extra set though.

The cheap ones are not bad either. They tend to be within 3degC accuracy at typical temps which is ok but they are less tolerant of surface reflections compared to the Fluke (which still needs masking tape on very shiny surfaces),a little inconsistent (so best to take more than one reading) and have a narrower operating range.

The Fluke accuracy is not far off 1degC accuracy for typical use (think they quote less than 1%), its ratio is ok, the lens is top notch and the harmonisation is good. It's also pretty robust, feels nice in your hand, small enough to fit in most places, more tolerant of dust/muck and quick to operate, but relatively expensive.

I reckon the Fluke 62 is the best balance of all round performance of the type but the equivalent Amprobe runs it very close and is cheaper so is the one normally to go for unless you have to have the Fluke brand. However, at this price the Fluke is actually cheaper than the Amprobe!

Thanks for the info. I bit the bullet and ordered the fluke.

Best I've found was 93 quid :shocking:

Yeah about the same here. If it was < £50 I'd probably be game, but >£90 is getting into full-size toolbox territory.

I'm almost surprised that there's not more of these sorts of things around -would be handy on the workbench or desk.

Lidl has a power engraving tool (includes stencils) on for £7.99 starting Monday. Might be useful for helping protect some of these bargain buys :)

Fifty quid would seal it for me, though shipping it back to NZ would get the wife grumbling! lol

If I stumble across any around that price I'll let you know - I'm travelling around the country in a few weeks, will see what I can find.

I wonder why no 3/8 DBOX at FFX?

3/8 is my day to day size and I tend to use the top end of 3/8ths drive sockets sizes more than the smaller end of 1/2" drive sizes.

So far the only place I've seen it for sale is Prime Tools. I just assumed they got the first allotment to the UK :)

When the 3/8'" set eventually goes on (deep) discount I'll get one.

Very tempted by the Beta wall clock. Really looking forward to Facom deals... not that I'm partial or anything

Me too -for the garage. Now I'll know how cold I am as well as how slow I am.

Bought the clock, what the heck.

Hahaa thought you'd be happy to hear about the Facom offers, will take us a little while to sort out the whole range. Its popular on here, and TBH my own personal tool box has a fair bit of it, even got a CDX socket set as one came up cheap. Great tools.

hahaa, we have these clocks on the wall in our offices. They have been very popular since last year, took us a bit by supprise!

The humidity and temp on it is ideal for body shops.

Thanks for the orders!

Clock arrived and looks great. The temp gauge suggests ice age but I'll give it a day or 2 to recover before seeking a better one.

Mine has arrived also. Temp looked okay, but I haven't checked again since it's gone up in the garage. For about £20 shipped I'm very pleased (it was either this or a slightly larger KTM clock that had no temp or humidity).

Yep, that's the temp shown on mine and it's a fair bit warmer in my study!

Interesting. I took that this AM shortly after it was delivered. Figured it was about right (somewhere between outside and inside temps). I'll go check now and see how it's reading in the garage.

EDIT: Temp now reads 7.5C and Humidity 84% in the garage. Local weather shows 7C and 87%, so not too bad at all.

So far keeping time well. Second hand is a tiny bit wobbly at the top of the clock, but then I wasn't expecting an expensive mechanism :)
