I've been planning to buy a 7mm hex socket for my brake calipers and sure I have space to use this instead of a conventional hex socket.

Just any old 7mm will do, I use a big Draper L shaped one with a handle for all fords, and what ever else I come across.

Thanks guys. Here's some VBW deals on Amazon:
£7.43 VBW 195005 Self-Grip Nickel Plated Wrench, Silver, 180 mm
£13.28 VBW 134010 Copper Pipe Bending Wrench, Silver, 8 mm
£35.32 VBW 840040 Plier Set in case with voltage tester.
£13.76 VBW 970500 Pin Punch set. Sizes 2,3,4,5,6,8. I wouldn't beat on these but long ones are handy for some things.

I use some Starret 565 punches and they've taken a pounding on things like when I grinded the rivet heads off a lower balljoint and hammered the rest of the rivet out off the lower arm. Amazon has the whole set of 8 for £28.18.

Wish I could think of a reason to buy that pipe wrench!
Half the reason I post stuff here is so you'll buy it instead of me and stop me from spending so much!!!

I got the Milwaukee rotary tool from eBay using a 15% discount code and the Dremel 723 100 accessory pack for £14.99 to use with it. Still looking for the ratchet, M18 sander and M12 6 amp battery.

Here's a few more deals:
Facom U.306PB 3 ton 2 or 3 leg internal & external puller For £119.94 from Prime Tools. I've got this set myself and it's a quality piece of kit
Sealey VS313 Glow Plug Puller Set £16.54 (sells for £100ish normally!)
Elora vice grip things 180mm £7.48
Sealey 1153CXHV Trolley Jack 3tonne Long Chassis £49.69 Hi Vis!

Chaps,

What do we think of Halfords Advanced kit? This morning’s Daily Fail alerted me to a panic sale Halfords are having at the moment on:

Socket sets: https://www.halfords.com/workshop-t...43&cm_re=greatoffers-_-feature+1-_-SocketSets

Tool cabinets: https://www.halfords.com/workshop-t...&cm_re=greatoffers-_-feature+5-_-metalstorage

Some may sneer, but their tools come with a lifetime warranty, and you can’t beat them for convenience / accessibility, as there’s a halfrauds in pretty much every town!

This probably always gets said but.... Why are they still including af in the sets? :shocking: Time Halfords refreshed their sets imho. Nothing bad to say about the quality and convenience though.

The kit is OK, the boxes are great. I've got the industrial box and side locker, it's brilliant quality, nicely finished and the drawer latches work well. It would be nice to be able to get them with wider drawers, but they are great value for money.

I'm not a huge fan of their socket sets, don't like the feel of the tools, they don't seem to fit fasteners as well as other kit I've got, and the ratchet weight just feels wrong. I've got the 170pc kit in my unit (because it's cheap enough not to care if it goes missing) but it's annoying by not having all the sizes in all the ranges, like deep 1/4" stops at 9mm. My fault for not paying more attention when I bought it, but most times I use it, I curse, then go and get a set out my truck.

For the money, I far prefer sealey premier, their ak691 set is my current most used set. Very very strong (I use it on a impact gun a lot), nicer ratchet action than my bluepoint.

I think it's very good quality. I seen one of these "How It's Made" type programs which was on Morgan cars and I noticed they were using Halfords tools in the factory!

My issue is that they have 12 point sockets which is not my preference for working on the rusty rubbish I drive!

I noticed that M-Sport had the halfords 200pc sets in their engine building room, where they build £100k+ engines for wrc and Bentley racing. It was pretty amusing as publicly M-Sport are sponsored by snapon. The Morgan factory tour is well worth it if your ever in the area.

Forgot to mention above, the halfords advanced torque wrenches are really good and a bargain on trade.

Looked at these yesterday evening in store, they look ok. Halfords 'professional' range is very well respected. Lifetime warranty (if not abused) is useful. They have these 50%+ sales a few times a year but certainly won't disappoint.

Just bought three tools from different sellers including one from Japan. Code worked on all three in my basket.

Nice looking set of 32 metric, imperial and stubby spanners in a foam tray from Laser:
£28.48 Laser Tools 6795 Spanner Set

Amazon are asking £30.15 but click on other sellers and you'll see Tool Academy (hardwick) are doing it for £28.48 including postage.

I've only really seen their tools in Halfords and assumed they just rebranded Chinese stuff but according to their website some of their more specialist tools are made in Sheffield. Quite an interesting company.

Mostly Chinese stuff and not of a good quaililty spanners / sockets tend to rust and peel the chrome or just simply fall apart.

They're specialist tools are rather good, injector sockets we use are really good for the price we paid.

Some of they're other tools are made in Tiawain and are of good quaility.
