Those look like the floor trusses for my buddy's barn (18" tall, 16" O.C.), but he is storing well over 500 bales of hay up there !

A little update. Cleaning up the mezzanine area today. This is the area under the front porch. decided no time like the present, so i filled all the snap-tie holes, and ground down the seams.

So normally i have a finisher that does all this for me on the jobs, but i thought, it's been a long time since i have done any of this and it's just a storage area so what better place for me to practice......hahahaha
then I remembered why i pay someone to do this.

I had 2 fans going full blast and day became night reminded me of search and rescue drills at the fire academy. literally couldn't see 1 ft in front of me. crazy. i did have the appropriate ppe on including respirator!!!


The shower tonight never felt so good!!!

Welcome! Part of the upper floor will be my wood shop, part will be a mother in law. It's built plenty stout!

MB1, I ride out of the house quite frequently. If i go right I can go to the Stampede Pass area and play, or if i take a left there are a few Honey Holes that not many know about.

Today I spent some time trying to figure out the space. I need to set some imbeds and have a couple of pits for some flush installed lifts. I cleaned up the area a bit, then parked my 3 place snowmobile trailer and 22 foot boat next to it.


Then added my f-350 supercab

I got to say, I am pretty happy with the amount of room I'm going to have, and yes, I know, it will fill up way to fast.

Been going to slow around the project, still got lots to do before the snow flies.
finished staining all the posts and rail.


Sheeted the party wall between the wood shop and the mother in law. still going to frame another 2x4 wall next to this wall to help with noise.

Well its been all kinds of fun and games taking the time off to build my shop, but my fun has come to an end. Time to go back to work. My wallet has had a huge hole in it since i started the build, with no end in site. So last week I sent out a few resumes 5 to be exact. I got 5 calls back. Went on 2 interviews, got two job offers! Feels pretty good to be wanted. So I started work Monday, but I'm still progressing with the build. Hired a friend of mine that's in the concrete flat work business to place my slabs. He poured my Bunker/wine cellar/root cellar/evil lair today! got home after work and felt like i had accomplished something! So here you go some pics.Sorry about the crappy cell phone pics. You cant tell from the photos but the slab is as smooth as a baby's ****. And Holy **** is it loud in there, its like an echo chamber.

Ok- so this new job has totally cramped the style in which I've become accustomed to the last 6 months or so, not having much free time to work on the place, its getting dark earlier and other things going on aren't helping either.
Good news is some progress!!!
Got the front porch concrete poured. I saw cut some control joints the night it was poured. the plan is to cut some decorative cuts, acid stain it, a clear coat on top with some traction grit in the clear coat on the ramp area. Slab cantilevers over the wall about 3". Installed chamfer top and bottom.



As you can see in the photos i got up early this morning to "mock up the log rail", just getting an idea how its getting installed.



It's going to look great.

I took some time this weekend and mocked up my railing, i think it looks great. i got some fine tuning to do, the first rail section on the ramp needs some adjustment, some spindles aren't plumb. then I will cut the posts to height, attach the posts to the deck and set the beams on the posts.

Sorry about the lack of progress, been real busy at the new job.
Breezeway planters poured and looking good. These will get a wall cap on them and are to be covered in stone. I have been helping a neighbor get his footings formed up for his shop, and in turn when he placed his footings he came over and poured these for me.

Is it just me or do some of the sections of spindles not seem to be vertical? The first one on the right then the third from the right seem to have a crook to them. I'm not trying to be critical, just trying to lend a hand. That is going to be awesome and I'm waiting to see what might come next.

Yes, you guys are correct, as I said this is the Mock up, mostly to find issues like those before the rail is permanently installed. Those two items are the adjustments that need to be made. The lower rail in both spots needs to be strapped and pulled up hill on the ramp to bring the stiles into plumb, I can not do that till I have secured the other posts to be able to pull from.

Thanks for the comments guys. I am really pleased with the way it's coming together. It fits my house and property better then I imagined it would and I'm the one that designed it.
