Wellit all started when a friend of mine gave me a 1964 Lincoln Continental. It was in need of restoration. I borrowed a friends garage until he got married (again) and now the car need to be moved. So I was thinking a cool old car deserves a cool old garage. I was talking to a good friend of mine about the idea of an old service station. He turns around an pulls ou a picture of his Uncle's old gas station. The idea was born. I wanted a one bay garage with an office and a storage area. One bay is enough to keep me from buying more "projects".

So far my wife and I have done all of the work ourselves except the concrete slab inside the garage.

inside dimentions are 24 deep by 28 wide. the office are under the cantilever roof is approximately 12x12

the chairs are for the "help" that normally sit, drink beer, watch and It seems that it takes three people to work a grill.

24' should be just long enough for the car. Car is just a little over 18 feet.

What are your plans for the 'Grand Dame of the Garage'? She's a great looking old girl; big enough inside to live in! lol That's the kind of car that people love to see in a parade, rolling down main street, top down, and motoring through town with a bevy of beautiful debutantes perched on top of the rear deck. The guys won't know whether to admire more the girls or the coach they ride on!

The plan for the car is to keep it as much original as possible. I do not plan to make it a show car but a really nice driver. My father is on the board of AACA so hot rodding is out of the question. No rims, airbags, motor swaps, etc. I would be disowned. I do appreciate all the work people put into hot rods but I like the look of things the way they are. Besides finding these slab sides that have not been turned into low riders is getting pretty tuff.

Exactly. I plan on keeping it original. The body is in really goos shape. Not much to do there. So far I have gone thru the brakes and started on the engine. I have had the carb rebuilt and am having the fuel pump restored. I am hoping that I do not have to do a rebuild. The car has less than 100k.
I will need to put a new top on it and go thru the miles of vacuum lines and replace. I will then move onto cleaning all of the relays and switches. After that I should have a nice Sunday driver. I really dont want to show it via AACA. (Too political) I will just enjoy it myself and pass it down to my son when he is older. He enjoys helping me with it and I enjoy the time spent with him.

A '64 whose body is in really good shape is rare, I think; you are fortunate. The best thing about this project is that your son is enthused and willing to help - OUTSTANDING! Since the old girl is going to be his someday, do both of you a favor - have someone take plenty of pictures of the both of you working on the car. You and he are building something really important - memories, and those pics will be hung in his garage someday down the road as a reminder of those precious moments spent helping Dad. The car may not, but those memories will last lifetimes and the pics will be there to inspire and re-kindle those memories. Have fun with your son on this car, take it slow, teach him patiently, and enjoy each and every minute of it.

Reminds me of one that was left at the shop for work and we couldn't get in touch with the owner. Found out he went to prison and left it at the shop.

My parents totally pulled a good one on me this Xmas. I thought we were done with gifts and they told me to go to their garage.

The bought one of these for me. I will take pics of the one I got. This is just an image i pulled online.
