Dude I think another forum member recieved your friend's weed wacker while you got the tool set! lol
I would have just kept my mouth shut and added a new rifle to my collection....but obviously that guys a libtard
Personally I would contact Sears and let them make the call. In my opinion taking advantage of someone or a group of someones, be it family, neighbors, kids or even companies lessens me as a person. Would I hope that they told me to keep it? Absolutely. Would I simply grab it and hope that no one noticed? No. My integrity is worth more than $307.79.
The way I look at it is that each individual gets to set the price for their own integrity. Some choose to sell it for the $1 extra the clerk at Walmart gave them, some for the extra $500 refund in a falsified tax return and some choose to not sell regardless of the price. Mine isn't for sale. Is yours?

im thinking that if this happened to anyone here that you would keep it..it sounds great to be "moral" and "honest" and all,im just not beleiving you would send back TOOLS!!!!.. to each his own i guess
I ordered a bluepoint 1/4 and 3/8" drive/ sae and mm wrench kit, cost was around 200.00 with my student discount. When it showed up it was a 200lbs box containing a Cat (Snap-on made) Master mechanic tool kit with a extra add on kit. Total cost on the student website stated it was around 6000.00, that's with the student discount. It took a min to think but i called my rep and he told me they knew about the mistake before it hit my door and if it wasnt returned i would have my card charged the difference from what i ordered. I was later told that i saved the job of the packer that screwed up my order. Karma......
Remarks like this "They deserve what they get" etc. are bull, plain and simple.
You can't justify stealing just because it benefits you.
Everybody on here bellyaches about thieves and the lack of morals in today's youth/society. Same thing here. Granted, you did not "take" something. But you are making no effort to do the right thin at all.
Good Luck to You.
If they pay return shipping. Return it.
If not. Keep it.

They can do no such thing, it would be illegal for anyone to charge you an amount you did not authorize and your CC company would of reversed any such attempt without a second thought. Im all for doing the right thing, especially in your situation given the value discrepency, but that threat would of really pissed me off. Also you said they already knew about the mistake before it was delivered, well UPS allows redirect or return options accessible by the shipper on packages in route. I think i would of told your rep to go stuff himself...at least for a little while.

Seeing as i live paycheck to pay check and IF they did charge me for it being illegal or not (fyi ive had this happen with online orders that were screwed up not by my fault!! Dont tell me it cant happen because it has!!), it would screw up my bills so much it would be hard to recover without having 10-15 overdraft fees and loosing money. Why go through the hassle of it when i did not order it in the first place?? Why not be honest and return it???
My rep was telling me what his boss told him to tell me if i did not offer to return them, its a scare tactic that works 90% of the time and is not illegal to do. I was rewarded by my rep for doing the right thing and it will save me a lot of money over the next 3 years. Like i said, karma
These are more important:
Q. Am I obligated to return or pay for merchandise I never ordered?
A. No. If you receive merchandise that you didn’t order, you have a legal right to keep it as a free gift.
Q. Must I notify the seller if I keep unordered merchandise without paying for it?
A. You have no legal obligation to notify the seller. However, it is a good idea to write a letter to the company stating that you didn’t order the item and, therefore, you have a legal right to keep it for free. This may discourage the seller from sending you bills or dunning notices, or it may help clear up an honest error. Send your letter by certified mail. Keep the return receipt and a copy of the letter for your records. You may need it later.

That last line just negated your entire argument.....![]()
I always thought the rule was an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.
If UPS ever sends me anything again i'm keeping it no questions asked. MY Story :
I found a package on my doorstep, tried to be a good citizen & get it returned to the rightful owner. I called UPS to come & pick it up they never came, so I drive over to the UPS store where they said a driver was to drop it off to him & explain aboput the package so he takes it & I figure done deal, WRONG!!!.
A few days later the package is back on my doorstep, so I called UPS again & they said they would send a driver out to get it, so I gave them my address. The driver comes like 2 days later & takes the package.
So what happens next, the package is delivered back once again on my doorstep. This time I open the package to see whats inside & it's girls swimsuit addressed to
China Dolls what or whoever that is. So I just hung on to it for a few days to see if UPS would call or anything to see if the problem was resolved when one day I go out to the mailbox only to find A BILL for 10.00 & change for S&H. I called UPS Furious & asked to speak with a manager the lady I spoke with insisted I speak with her & didn't seem to understand what was going on or couldn't comprehend it so she got cussed out for not forwarding me on to a manager like I had requested in the first place. So I talk to the manager explain everything in detail: the package is not mine, never was mine, I didn't ship it & I wasn't supposed to receive it either. So the manager arranges pick up one final time. But that wasn't my final bill. So I had to call cust. service & or billing &
talk about this B.S. bill I had received & she said as a courtesy she would give me a discount on the bill. I said courtesy, there's no courtesy & went on to tell them about everything & told them I would never pay them a dime for this. I finally had to send this nasty note & that seems to have taken care of the problem.
Unacceptable
Parcel
Service
I am sorry to see that UPS is contributing to the dumbing down of America. It must be true, why else would you drop off a package at my house that I had nothing to do with & then send me a bill for it. ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????
I have no wife or kids, so I have no reason what so ever to have anything to do with a girl’s swimsuit!!
I tried to be a good citizen, called UPS & told them the package that was delivered was not mine. How can you not understand this?? I know the people I dealt with are dumb, but Imbeciles. ?
I was told by one of your imbeciles that the package was originally from or sent to China Dolls! I was also told that, one of your imbeciles made a typing error & keyed in the wrong letter which was supposedly only one character different than my account # so to prevent any further confusion on your part I canceled my account, and when I received a bill for the package I had nothing to do with originally, I decided I would never have anything to do with UPS again period...
I can't believe UPS is in any better shape than the post office, considering the absolute sheer stupidity of the employees you have working there. The Imbecile I last spoke with insisted that I speak with her on the matter instead of letting me talk to a manager like I requested in the first place, so she got cussed out & why shouldn't she? She obviously couldn't understand normal thinking but said she would give me the courtesy of discounting the bill??? I said courtesy, there's no courtesy! How can there be any courtesy for a mistake on your part, for billing me for a package that I had nothing to do with except for trying to return it to the right sender or receiver?
You idiots dropped of that package at my house 3 or 4 times & still can't understand that the package was never mine. How much fuel & man hours have you wasted delivering a package to me that wasn't mine? How can you continue to operate your business knowing you have this type of incompetent personnel in the company???
You Imbeciles have wasted more than enough of my time on this matter for trying to be a good citizen. You can call me once to apologize & tell me the matter is resolved. After that I will consider it harassment. If I were you I would get to the bottom of this issue before you waste any more of UPS time, money, & man hours & my time!!!!!!!!!!!!
another question i have. how come ups leave material on your doorstep (no one signed for it?) Is this within ups policy? over here ups don't even allow the neighbours to sign for your package.

Been UPS policy for a couple of decades now, to leave packages on doorsteps or "safe" delivery locations at the consignee RESIDENTIAL address. Some neighborhoods, or specific addresses might be flagged as "NO DR" or "no driver release" for reasons known to UPS. Or the package may be marked "Signature required" (costs extra I beleive). In general however, at a residential stop the driver will ring the bell and leave the package with no signature.
Presumably in a safe location not easily seen from the street.
All this in theory of course, in reality things don't always go according to the rules.![]()
