Unusual Diamond Caulk tool

I picked this up at the swap meet today - a Diamond Caulk crate opener.

On one side it says Senior Diamond Crate Opener and Drop Forged. On the other side it says Duluth Minn, Tool Steel, and Made in U.S.A, along with the Diamond Caulk horseshoe logo. It's about 9 inches long, one hammer head is smooth while the other has a waffle finish.

I've never seen one before, so even though I don't have a big need for opening crates :) I had to buy it.

Speaking of unusual Diamond Caulk tools, my brother sent me a couple photos today of this trenching tool. He was using it in his garden, and when cleaning it off afterwards found the brand name. Neither one of us ever had noticed it before even though the thing has been in our family for ages, my dad picked it up somewhere in the 1950s. Because of the U.S. stamp on it, we figure it was military surplus.

Those were used in the produce business for the crates of fresh fruits and some vegetables. Cantaloupe crates always were wooden and these hammers were to open a crate and re-close it.
