Update | US General 56” What Color?

Update 01/31/2020

Thank you for all of your input. I actually went with yellow which I think looks great in the garage. I picked the box up last week with the help of a coworker. Man that thing is a BEAST.

When I picked it up the box had damage but the employee that helped load it stated he inspected it and found no damage. I also looked it over and didn't notice anything (I was mainly looking for scratches). Fast forward to the weekend. I went to load it with tools and noticed one of the drawers is damaged. No big deal right? Just take the drawer out head down to HF and swap it out. Ohhhh no. After talking to two employees and the manager they insist I bring the entire toolbox in for a return and order a new one. Now this was not easy to get it in my garage. I will spare the details but it was a major PITA. I once again explain to them how hard this would be for me and swapping the drawer is a simple fix and easier for all of us. Nope the insist on the entire toolbox.

Please change my mind. How does this make any sense? Even a little common sense? Since the box itself is not even barcoded I suggested they roll the new one out, turn around, let me swap the drawers and we can "say" that was my old box. Nope they insist on me bringing the entire box.

I even called the 800 number and get the same response. Damn this is frustrating.

I really like the box and would love to keep it. However since the powder coating is damaged I don't think it's worth keeping. Please tell me one of you has a buddy at HF with a little common sense that can help.

---Original Post---

Help me choose, I’m torn between Yellow and Green. White is my first choice but so far the only have the roll cart in white.

Use: light homeowner. My garage color theme is gray . Light gray walls and epoxy floors.

I like the green but leaning towards yellow as it seems the chrome trim doesn’t stand out.

Update 1/3/19:

Yesterday I actually pre-ordered the yellow box. I started this thread because I am second guessing that choice. I attached a few pictures of my garage if this helps. Picked up some color samples as well.

More info:
Garage Colors (Wall, floor, trim): Gray
Car Colors: Silver (VW Silver Reflex and Audi Cuvee Silver Metallic)
House Exterior: Dark Green w/ Tan trim

Asking GJ'rs.... I'd be surprised if green didn't easily win the poll. :D (the smiley indicates my choice but really the choice should be yours, not based on us)

Green. Looks way more bad *** than the yellow IMHO.

From a color psychology site...cause, ya know, everything on the internet is true.
With the meaning of colors, in color psychology, yellow is the color of the mind and the intellect. It is optimistic and cheerful. However it can also suggest impatience, criticism and cowardice. Green is the color of balance and growth. It can mean both self-reliance as a positive and possessiveness as a negative, among many other meanings.

I went down to order a 44" in Yellow and then I saw the Green in person. Decision was easy at that point.

Out of the choices, green which I voted for.

Personally, I'd buy black, maybe blue after seeing another member post up his set up.

Green, yeah, I'd take green but I think I would have to do some repainting on the interior of my shop.

I went with green and took off the emblem and vertical aluminum strips.

:)

I'd like to see how that looks. How about posting a photo ? Please ??? :)

BTW, green would be my fist choice followed by the blue. I know a guy that owns a 72" in green and it looks great but theres a few videos on youtube and the blue looks pretty nice.

Guess I'm boring. My favorite color is green but I would never buy a green car. And tool boxes, I buy/prefer black. Well my series-1 5-drawer cart is red but that's cause it was the only color they came in. But my series-2 5-drawer cart is black.

Out of the two, yellow. I'd say get black though and pickup a cart (because more storage!) in yellow to really enjoy the colors

I'd wait for white if that's what you really want. I have two red 44's. They don't even match, as one is the old wrinkle paint, and the newer one is shiny. I also have a red 44 top box, so I'm kind of committed. I recently bought a yellow 5 drawer because it (nearly) matches my '92 Miata. I really like the yellow, but I like yellow tools/cars/equipment anyway. I'm partial to old Cub Cadets, and even my tractor wood chipper is yellow.

I could envision a day when I sell off the red boxes and get a bigger yellow set.

Either one but paint the handles black.

I was thinking about this. Hopefully the chrome is removable to make this easier. I’m considering using Plasti Dip so I can change back to chrome if I ever want to.

Now that wins for most over-analyzed answer on tool box color!

I'm sorry if this is hijacking the thread but does anyone know if HF is coming out with the boxes in white? Thank you.

What color is the main thing you're working on? I'm going with orange because my motorcycle is orange

I really don't have a color theme per-say. My garage is a nutral gray. Most of my SO tools are the red handle, but I do not want a red box. My roll cart is black so will match with anything.

Garage Colors (Wall, floor, trim): Gray
Car Colors: Silver (VW Silver Reflex and Audi Cuvee Silver Metallic)
House Exterior: Dark Green w/ Tan trim

See attached photos of garage during my paint and epoxy project.

Let me ask these questions as you’ve got a finished garage. Mines finished too, but needs refreshing. Do you work with the garage door open? Do you want people driving by, or neighbors to notice the box/tools? I ask because I try to conceal the fact that I have tools and a small Lowe’s in my garage.

+1

I gave my two red 44’s to my son and bought two black 56’s, not only because I wanted more storage, but largely because I hated how obvious my red boxes were to strangers driving by. The black looks great and blends into the darkness of the open garage. The red was like “BLAM, HERE I AM”! I never felt completely comfortable when my garage door was open, which was often!

The romantic hills of central Umbria, Italy,
I would have to repaint it, probably either something like Combat/Olive Green or Cranberry (both of which are SO colors). Maybe Gunmetal... all of which are like the balck box. Not obvious, not glaring, and well, I like them. So I'm no help, sorry...

I look at my toolbox like, well, it's its own thing. You gotta look at it, so if you like the Yellow, then go with it. If you really hate it after a year or 2, you can always repaint it. :D

Garage is pretty much finished other than storage options and wall art. It’s about 50/50 working with the door open. However I’m on the end of a dead-end street so not much traffic.

You folks need to move to a different neighborhood. Just sayin...

That gunmetal looks nice but the nearest Menards is over 4hrs away plus it’s $350 more.

They much nicer boxes, some of best value to quality you can get at 24" depth and proper pull latch drawer handles .

With you colours a gunmetal good color . yellow or green going be BAM!
