Redoing my tool setup I bought a new bench and tool box, but I just could not replace my US General Tool Cart. I tried Googling my options in fixing my nasty BB slides. Nothing substantial, so I tried some from Home Depot. It worked well and they were are an upgrade in strength, extension and soft close. I thought I would share.
I was able to repair one drawer, the lower bearing race broke and by cleaning the bearings and removing a loose bearing works like a champ now. The bottom drawer was too destroyed.
Keep in mind this is for the older tool boxes that the slides are pop riveted in. The new boxes are upset rivets. YMMV
I used:
Everbuilt 14" Soft Close D94214E-ZP-W SKU# 1002772981.
Arrow Stainless RSST5/32 Short Rivets.
Slides were $15.48 at Home Depot, probably get cheaper somewhere else.
Holding these to the original, they are almost same rivet holes. I first tried drilling a 3rd in the middle. They ended up being too sloppy. So drilled the 2 rear holes in the tool cart, not the slides.
These are so close to fitment, that the OEM drawer part fits in but does not function properly. Does not full close nor soft closes, but will extend.
Here is the Everbilt installed.
Drawer side installed. Rivet holes are almost perfect. No need to drill.
Here is the external of the final product.
You can google us general slide and get a bunch of suggestions on Ali Express, but SH-ABC was the OEM for my cart.
