Used a utility knife and got them chipped out. I was going to remove the cartridge heater and check for gunk there, I expected to see something I could put a wrench on but it looks like it’s just pressed in there with maybe an oring to seal. Is there a plug in the opposite end of the block you remove and push it out? I can’t see that end but figured it I removed the whole nozzle assembly maybe it would be accessible that way?

The heating element just slides into its own passage in the block. It does not come into contact with oil/air. If there was some oil leakage at some point in its life some could have gotten in there making it more difficult to remove. Also on the rare occasion I have had elements warp then you have to fight to get it out.

Ahh then maybe I don’t need to remove it. I had seen one video of an older burner that the guy removed it and it was covered in gunk

Well I got the kit installed and got it running tonight, of course it’s 70 degrees here now. I’m not sure if it’s the air gauge but if I try to drop it below 16 on the gauge the new air proving switch kicks out just like the one I replaced. Anyway it’s running pretty good on 16 lbs of air and 2 lbs of oil.

Duane, if you’re still watching here I wanted to ask if it’s ok to mix crankcase oil and ATF together in that same tote or am I asking for trouble? Just trying to get my winter fuel figured out.
thanks
