I have the HF torque wrenches. Not pleased with them. I would like to buy a used big name brand as I can’t afford new. My question can I send them off to be calibrated or repaired? What should I look out for? Which would you buy?
Send it to Team Torque in Bismarck, ND. They are A2 accredited, same as NASA and US Navy.

If you're looking for cheap and very good these ones, which are made in China but designed in America and modeled after the Norbar, are excellent for the price. What I really like about them is the setting scales. Much easier to read than your typical torque wrench and going between N-m and Ft-lb is effortless. I'm normally a digital guy (due to the need for torque angle) but for a normal clicker type torque wrench I don't think these can be beat for the price.

Another vote for CDI. I'm pleased with mine. I also have a "Torque Control Industries" (a brand that Snap-On swallowed) that a tech friend handed down to me. That one is from the 1980's and is still spot on. I zero out all of my clickers.

To my knowledge NORBAR is made in the UK
yes its possible. the website mentions a couple different manufacturing facilities in several countries. i wasnt able to determine with any certainty where the tool was made so i decided just to go with stahlwille as i know where those are made and theres no question of the qaulity. if norbar was more open about where each tool was manufactured, possibly i would of gave them a shot

When I purchased my NORBAR wrenches a few years a go (not that long actually), they were a family owned business in the UK but since then I heard here on GJ that Snap-On acquired them. I know they made the T-wrenches also for WERA among others. One cannot go wrong with Stahllwille either.

Ebay.
JS Technologies, Alfaretta, GA.
They were a contract supplier for the military. There are always a bunch of fancy-schmantzy torque wrenches listed on Ebay branded JS - it's just a matter of finding them. (Was that "techologies", or "technology"? Is it "JS" or "J.S." or "J-S"?)
I paid about.... $25 bucks for a little 1/4" drive 30-150 inch pound clicker (incl. shipping.) Like brand new.

I have 3 CDI dial ones for the lower range precision stuff. I think the highest the 1/2" one goes is 50 lb/ft but haven't used it in awhile.
I bought a cheap click type one once and zero on the handle wouldn't line up with any of the numbers. It's replacement had several calibration reports in the case. Each with sequential serial numbers listed and varying readings within tolerances. I guess they just stick that paper in there to make you feel good.
