Interesting. 80 visites and not one suggestion. Perhaps I should PM someone who is already using a gif for an avatar to see if they did anything special. I just don't know if it is a problem with my system or with the gif file itself.

Thank you.

If the GIF is too big of file, sometimes it will only capture the pic portion of it. This is the max allowed on the site for GIF's gif 78.1 KB, 620 width, 280 height. In your Control Panel where you switch your avatar, right click on the GIF and then properties, then look at the size of it.

Thanks Kevin. I checked the gif file and it shows a size of 2976 bytes and 99 x 99 pixels. I'm not sure how that relates to the maximums you have mentioned above.:headscrat

SO happy I have avatars disabled! Nothing like waiting for a bunch of gifs to load when I want to read a page :D

If this is the .gif you are trying to use:

GMhBT1w.gif

...then the filesize is too large for what this forum allows for avatars. The avatar limits are 160 by 160 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller). Your image is 35KB.

That's the one. Guess that's why it doesn't work. Thanks for the help.

I think the problem is that you may have saved it wrong. When I right click on it and do a "File, Save As" there is no File extension to it. Therefore you'll only end up with a picture and not a GIF.

User CP, Options. I have signatures off as well. Those options, along with ADBlock Plus, will revolutionize your forums experience.

Oh wow! - how right you are jay - I've turned them both off and revolutionize is the word!

I think some people really take liberties with their signatures - including advertising, colored fonts, shouting and long lists of their projects and vehicles. It's OK to see it once, but it gets old real quick.

Anyway - thanks so much ....
