Vacuum on table saw

I have a 3 hp 220 bolt table saw with a dust collector hooked up to it by remote.
Dust collector is 110 v. My table saw is wired in on a 20 amp double pole circuit.
I bought the over arm dust collector for the saw. I hoped it up as designed where it shares the 4 inch line of a tee. The t really limits the auction but after reading reviews a spray vacuum is desired so I did that and it works excellent using a small ridgid shop vac.

Is there a way I can wire this shop vac to the motor or after the switch of the table saw using one leg. I already have a nutreal in the box where the saw is plugged in I used 12 /3 romex. Now the neutral is capped off in the box.

I was thinking if I switch the plug to a 4 prong plug with the nutreal and inside the switch box after the on switch I could wire in the shop vac using one 1 leg and picking up the nutreal. There so when ever I turn on the saw the second vac turns on.

Thank you.

If it matters it is a 3 hp saw stop.

Another reason I want to do it this way is so I will only use one wire because I move it around a lot.

Functionally it will work but the breaker may trip with the saw and vac starting up at the same time.

This was happening to my table saw and vacuum system. I initially had it set up so the saw and vacuum would get powered on at the same time. I had the vacuum plugged in to the saw via the receptacle that was located on the back of the saws power switch.

What I ended up having to do was put the vacuum system on a different switch so that I could turn it on after the saw came up to speed. I don't really mind it set up this way because I can turn on the vacuum system independently if I need to use it for general cleanup near the saw or on the floor.

your other option is a relay tied to a second circuit for the vacuum.

I would recommend this. Wire coil of 240vac-coil relay in parallel with motor windings across both legs of 240vac.

Use normally-open contact of relay to switch 120vac to dust collector on a separate circuit.

All you really need to do is put a blast gate between your T (a Y is better) and the cabinet and throttle the suction down to the cabinet. My Sawstop is set up the same way and with the blast gate about 2/3 closed I still get good collection through the cabinet and good collection through the blade guard.

This may work for you. It's a relay that can be triggered by a wide variety of input voltages.

My central dust collector wiring is old school. I have a current sensing switch on the 240V circuit that feeds the table saw, jointer-planer, radial arm saw and thickness planer. The switch senses current on the 240V circuit and closes connection on a separate 120V circuit feeding the dust collector. Google that if you wish. There are plenty of options of that type.

I've got 5 different things piped for dust collection. I had looked at various ways to turn it on but it would also require blast gates that automatically configure based on which tool was being used. I just use a simple remote- and have to open/close blast gates based on which tool is being used

I would neither pick Snap-on or HF made in China tool. But I would select the tested and approved tool set for outer space with the possibility that I might use it in zero Kelvin temp in outer space. Gold plated is a possibility. Diamond plated is a plus

Thanks for the idea. I ended up going this route because all the complications with the separate shop vac.
