Hello, I have been seeing all types of Vaughn Grayvik hammers at Harry Epstein and besides the photos on their website, there is about a handful from my search of google images. I have been thinking a buying some, I was wondering if anyone had any grayvik hammers that they would not mind taking a pictures of.

I picked up this one a few weeks ago when I was in KC for a business trip. I wish I could have stayed longer. :-\

I looked over most of their selection and with a couple exceptions I couldn't tell why they had been relegated to Vaughn's factory blemish brand. They all had a thick coat of lightly sparkled blue paint that probably covered finishing errors.

This hammer is the Vaughn V5 that retails in the $50 range they sell for $17.50. There were 4 or 5 left. A couple did show some rather obvious milling errors on the striking face, and others were more rounded at the edges than what I choose.

Anyway, pictures. So far it's only been used to demo a deck and punch nails out of the old lumber. The striking face doesn't show any marring, despite my striking the points of a couple hundred nails. The paint comes off rather easily.

Most commonly it's the grinding that is a little off on Grayvic tools. Off center, asymmetrical . Sometimes you have to look pretty hard to see it. It's usually just an appearance issue, but sometimes the tips on the prybars and claws on the hammers have to be dressed up a bit to make them right.

Boost, what blemishes are visible on those ball peens? I have a complete set of Vaughn, and love them. Just curious about the Grayvik.

Heads up...

If you like Vaughn hammers, check out Sears Craftsman hammers... many of which are made by Vaughn (series code is -M- stamped on the hammer head).

They are really nice hammers and the wood handles are also very nice.

This is likely to change in the near future, so get them while you still can.

When I was at the store there were only a couple odd sizes of ball peens left. Something small then I think a box full of 20oz?
