Picked this up at an antique store a few days ago For $45 I was hoping I would get the rare angle adapter with it!! Could not wait to get it cleaned up and installed. Used it last night while doing a restoration project and it was like having a third hand! Would like to find another base or 2 so I can move it around the shop. Not sure if they ever show up. J

YoungFD: i snagged one of those myself a few months ago and still hoping to clean off a bench to have a spot to mount mine. i think they come with pipe jaws, but not sure i've ever seen an angle adapter for this vise. i've seen angle adapters for pattern maker vises though. are you sure they make one for the Versa vise?

here's a video that showed me i needed to own one of these vises that you might have already seen on youtube.

I think some of these were sold with 2 bases so if i happen upon one i'll trade you for something. or have your welder friend just make you a few which shouldn't be hard to make.

cheers

I know of one for sale at a pawn shop for $30 ... but it's missing the base. I would buy it if I knew where to find a base for it ...

Riley: i have one you can borrow to take to the machine shop and see if one of your guys can make you a few so you can mount it on several benches. also there is a piece that YoungFD mentions that would be nice to have and if you can get one of the guys to make some i bet there might be 20-50 buyers for them unless there is another source.

good idea to offer $20, but if it's in decent shape it's worth $30. you might mention it's missing the base cause the shop owner may not know. watch the video and you'll see the piece to set on the base to give the vise a few more positions.

That video actually shows the angle adapter. There is also a clamp on base for these.

TS: thanks for the link to your old thread and I saved the catalog pages to my laptop. the Clamp on base looks like a must have and the drill press attachment might come in very handy.

YoungFD: I see you just posted over on TS's thread mentioning that these could be fairly easily made by somebody with the right equipment. I think I recall some company still making a Chinese version of these so maybe some parts are available today and i'll check if nobody posts them up first.

Brian, I have a NOS Versa-vise in the box. You are welcome to borrow the base for duplication. We still need to get together, so this is a good excuse!

There was a VERSA VISE on CL in Indianapolis last night. In the box, with mount, jaws and the 90 degree adaptor. $60. It was sold by the time I called. J

I know this is an old thread, but can anybody with a Versa Vise handy tell me the diameter of the portion of the base that the vise slips over? I need to make one but don't have my vise to get measurements from.

I made one a while back with a piece of 1-1/2" cold rolled shaft and didn't even measure. Just now I measured the diameter on two factory pins. One was .003 under and the other was .008 under. Both work fine as the lock for the vise is adjustable and forgiving. I also have a short piece of 1-12" hot rolled shaft which I'm sure I could make work fine with a minimal effort using some coarse emery cloth. Ed.
