Do these two screwdrivers have the same tip? Rumor has it that Vessel fits Honda carburetor screws very well; so much so that the screw will stick to the tip of the screwdriver. I've seen it happen on youtube.

Honda carburetor screws will have dot on the screw head; that means it's JIS, correct?

I have Vessel screw drivers like the first one you pictured and also the impact style, they are the best for removing JIS screws. Actually they are now my go to screwdriver, I reach for them before Snap On or Craftsman.

Both will work well for your application. The upper Megadora also has the little grippy bois on the blades.
I used mine on rather tight IAC screws on my '98 T4R throttle body with excellent success.

I have the Vessel Megadora like the one in your first photo and those have become my go-to screwdriver for all #2 fasteners. They work great on Honda carburetors and all JIS screws on Hondas!

Me, I use the turquoise/aqua handle ones on Phillips screws and they work great. I bought the #1, 2, and 3 size — love them for Phillips and other screws with recesses that are Phillips-ish in shape. (What? No, I'm not a mechanic in anybody's shop. Just a DIY homeowner.)

And that one has the knurling and that's really, really nice.

I've never tried the other

Agree about knurling — glad to see it. Though to be truthful, I've never run into a screw with these drivers that needed more than basic wrist action on my part.

But who knows, eh? Any day now something could come out of the designs of those who seek to improve on the Phillips design. But Vessel will see you through.

And if you don't believe me, just listen to this young woman — would she steer you wrong?

I find this hard to believe. I also own all three. I bought one like the first one pictured after seeing the praise on here and honestly, I was disappointed. It's better the the Craftsman, but the Craftsman screw drivers have never been great. However, it's no where near the quality of my Snap On. I almost never use it as I like the SO significantly better. Including on JIS screws. The quality difference is pretty large between the two.

I have lots of snap on screw drivers but when I'm working on dirt bikes and four wheelers the vessels are the way to go. I broke the impacta ones fairly quickly with regular use but the teal and red ones seem to last forever. Very nice screwdrivers.

I find this hard to believe. I also own all three. After getting an Impact #2 and a ball grip #1, #2 and #3 I never reach for my Snap-on and I've thrown away most of my Craftsman.

But luckily there are different strokes for different folks. Vessel have to be the best bang-for-buck in quality terms.

Yeah, neither of those is an Impacta, but the Impacta are excellent! Craftsman actually sold a 2-pack with their name on it for a while, with a P1 and 1/4" hollow ground slotted that I bought two sets of and highly recommend if you can find. Because of the limited torque you're going to get with the long shank, these two perfectly match the Impacta mechanism's performance with the tip size. For larger (P3, etc.) screws, go with a conventional hammer impact.

The first has the "Jawsfit" ribs discussed in this thread. The second has a standard tip with a ratcheting shank. I own two of the 900 series (teal handle) screwdrivers in P1. One with the Jawsfit teeth, and one without, and I prefer the one without. The knurling is nice on a P1, where you aren't going to need to crank on it. In the P2 size, I prefer the through-shank 930 series with a hex bolster.

The dot indicates that it is the JIS crosshead geometry but the dot is not always present. Someone mentioned it to denote a metric thread but I'm not sure at all about that.

Some screwdrivers are supposedly sort of combined to accomodate (more or less) both Phillips and JIS but I don't really know, the geometries are different so there's necessarily a compromise.

Phillips and POZIDRIV driving geometries are formally defined in the same ISO standard and therefore an ISO PH screwdriver cannot be modified to better fit JIS crossheads as it would no longer meet the ISO requirements for the Phillips geometry.

That ISO standard for Ph geometry (absorbed from a DIN standard) encompasses the requires of the JIS standard.

The dot is used in the JIS system to denote an ISO metric thread.

Older threads were metric, but not ISO, so some thread pitches were different. Hence, when they aligned with ISO, they introduced the dot so folks would know which was which.

So all screws with the dot are JIS, but not all JIS screws have the dot!

I have the Megadora set and they're great for both Phillips and JIS. Was just working on my wife's Subaru and it was great to be able to carry the screws to the work on the tip of the driver without worrying they'd fall off. My favorite screwdrivers ever.
