I had a HF brand ultrasonic that looked like that probably 10-15 years ago, which I used for cleaning tools from the flea market for selling online. It was a fun little hobby. I just used whatever degreaser I had on hand, like the stuff from the dollar store, and sometimes some dish soap. The tools always came out very clean if you left them in there long enough. The bummer for me is that the machine didn't last very long before dying. I ended up buying a more expensive and large unit, I think Crest brand.Guys, many of you get fantastic results cleaning up your tool finds. I’m curious. Have any of you tried this ultrasonic cleaner with evaporust or metal rescue in it and if so what were your results?
You can get a lot more life out of an ultrasonic cleaner if you fill it with DI water, and then just put whatever you are cleaning in a zip lock with the specific cleaning fluid.
Why is that? The water is just to transmit the sonic vibration, the extra sediment in tap water shouldn't make a differenceThe only reason you might get more life out of it because it won't work as well with DI water compared to tap water.

Correct. I meant more for the flea market find that you want to clean up and get back to decent shape so that you can wipe them down when they get you dirty! Lol.clean- tools, is that an oxy *****. only time i wipe a tool is when its gets me dirty
