You guys crack me up with your reasoning. The GJ has taken you away from reality. I will first say, yes Old American made vises are 10 times better than these China vises, and I now own 4 American vises and sold my Wilton Chicom. But let's face it fellas, not everyone has been bitten with the GJ bug. Not everyone can afford a $400 vise, not everyone knows the difference in quality, not everyone knows there are deals to be made buying a used American vise. And face it, not everyone cares! The man asked a simple question. Very few people gave him a real useful answer.
Op, it's worth what you can get for it. Someone out there has walked passed the new ones at Lowes or Home depot etc and said, "man, id like one of those, i just don't have $80" then they see on on CL for a deal and your phone will ring. this "throw it in the trash" attitude is just stupid. if you don't want a tool because it says China on it, donate it to Habitat for Humanity or something. Somewhere there is a less fortunate adult or kid who would die for that vise. Like I said before. I paid $70 brand new for mine several years ago, used and abused it and just sold it for $50 to a used car dealer and it didn't look as good as yours. It all depends on the market in your area. Around here old stuff is hard to find. New China stuff is everywhere. If a guy can save $30 less than new, he's all over it. For your sanity, if it is not made in America, next time you have a question regarding value, don't ask, or be prepared for the bandwagon to roll through
