So I picked up this Gedore Dremometer torque wrench not too long ago, and decided to go though the insides and make sure everything was working good and not rusted or anything. Here is some pictures of my progress so far.
Here is the wrench, I believe it is from the 80s, but there is no date stamp anywhere.

Close up of the top plate. 15-90 lb-ft range.

Close up of scale.

To take it apart is pretty simple. First I tapped out the four roll pins holding on the top plate. Just hit both sets out with a long punch from one side. Then tap the square drive with a hammer to raise the plate a little, and persuade the plate off from there. The fit is pretty tight actually, I assume to help keep water and moisture out of the lever chain mechanism.

Now the square drive and intermediate lever slid up and out along with a spring and a dowl pin. Next the preload on the main spring needed to be reduced, so I set the torque value to zero. Now the second dowl pin came out, along with the last lever chain piece and two washers.

Now I turned my attention to the bottom. There is a snap ring that needs removed.

I punched out the two roll pins from the bottom as well.

Now the whole lower assembly slid out.

To properly clean all the parts, I also removed the adjustment knob from the assembly. If I recall correctly they are reverse threads.

That's as far as I have gotten for now. I am debating how I should clean up the body of the wrench. I want it to look good, but also have a durable finish so that it looks good after years of use. Any suggestions?
