I'm posting some pictures of the "cantilivered" SK Tool Box along with a photo of some of the older tools that were inside. Some older Utica tools, a Snap-On, couple small Barcalo wrenches, Xcelite pieces, some Stanley, etc. The finish on the box is a dark green, but unlike the wrinkle paint SK green box I posted a few days ago, this is orange peel. It is 19" long. Can anyone take a stab at the date of this box?
I would say with some confidence that your box was made in 1945. It has the pre 1946 decal and the post 1943 handle.

Finally finished the larger of the two boxes that were gifted to me.

Here's the larger beauty shot, and before and after pics of the pair. Paint ain't perfect but just fine for working boxes.

I need to find a sherman klove box that is the size of the top one.
-Tommy
They're out there but you've gotta hunt for them.
I restored one about 9 years ago that was almost beyond redemption but I made useable. It holds my 1/2" Bonney stuff.

Hi. I’m optimizing my backpack “toolbox” for dirt bike race/practice days. It’s portable as in move from garage to back of truck, but not a wearable riding pack. (CLC 1134 backpack). Most work can be done with t-handles or 1/4” sockets (including torx for KTM and hex for Honda), however for wheels I needed something beefier. I have a dedicated 3/8 craftsman socket set, but the idea of a small breaker has me thinking it’s a better route. I grabbed below off eBay. SK 45153, no markings other than the SK (no Wayne, no diamond, etc). Any idea what year(s) this may be? Thanks!

This is why I don’t throw anything away, my dad told me to throw away a stack of tire irons that I had lying around that I got from my grandpa. But I just stashed them away, today I rediscovered them and one turned out to be an SK! Didn’t know SK made 4-way wrenches, if anyone has documentation or info on this I would love to know about it.

I suspect that is a casting flaw since I don’t see it in the picture of the opposite side but I will double check in the morning and let you know. It’s very unlikely that it will ever get used anyway.👍 Here is a screenshot
from the Craigslist ad.

I would like to have an even earlier one simply marked S-K but I think your S-K Tool marked one is newer (and nicer) than mine. If I run across one just marked S-K I would be willing to pass along my Wayne one.😃

This is the box my knurled band 1/2 drive set was in when my grandpa gave it to me, is this an actual S-K box? If it’s not can anyone tell me what it is. If it is an S-K I might go through the work of restoring it.

I don’t know what brand that one is but all of the S-K boxes that hold those sets that I’ve seen have a unique tab cutout that you’ll be able to see in my pictures.

Ok thanks for the info, I didn’t figure so. It would be cool to know what brand it is so I can do the logical thing and start building another set. Should I make a thread just to get to the bottom of this?

What was that tab for? I bought a set with 10 sockets and a 15" breaker bar, all the sockets fit in the left side of the box, I later added 25/32", 1", 1 1/16", and 1 1/8" sockets and a 17" breaker bar and they filled up the box perfectly. Was it there so they could use the same box for both sets?

I have always wondered about the tab as well. On one box I bent it out of the way so I could add an extra socket. I suspect that we’ll never know for sure.😳

That is interesting and the socket tray tapers the opposite way of mine. Maybe the S-K Tool Fanatic’s box is original since his socket tray matches yours. His is going to be quite a restoration project. I personally would dip that whole box in evaporust. 👍

I think I might take it to my grandpas and sandblast it with his sandblaster. If thats a bad idea please let me know.
