I must have spotted your post and copied all of your imagines down. Of course I soon forgot where they came from. Thanks for taking the time.

My vintage SK. The first photo is the stuff I use in my (hobbyist) shop, and they fill the top and most of the first drawer of the box. The second photo is the boxed sets that are more of a hoard. I can fit nine of the boxed sets like a jigsaw puzzle into the bottom drawer of the box (third photo). I tried to make sure each set is different, and I have built out, more or less, the big set from the mid-40's catalogs, with a few additions, some variations, and skipping things like the speeders (which take up a ton of space and I rarely use them), and the Ford and Buick specific tools. Would love to find a vintage 40138 as well, I have a gap there.

How about that? It's mine now. Thanks for the heads up!!!

I have been looking off and on for months for that guy! A bit spendy, and Ebay always feels a bit like cheating, but it is the very last piece I need to fill my SK box the way I want it.

There is a Plomb Pebble 3061 on Ebay as well. I have no idea if the condition or price is reasonable.

Glad you got. I have had 3 over the years and have sold and traded 2 off. Only have one left in my master SK Socket chest like yours. I have since moved to Plomb trying to complete the people grand slam.

So, I turned around and realized I was collecting SK as much as anything, so I have broken down and admitted it. Here is a small part of the collection:

Picked that up yesterday, a barely used set of Wayne deeps. Interestingly, they don't say Wayne on the sockets but are the earlier knurled type.
Also picked up some of the last sockets needed for this set, now all I need are the deep 7/8's and regular 3/8's and 7/16's. (have placeholders in there to keep it from rattling around too much)

Does anybody know if there is a modern sk thread ? I need help filling out some socket sets for users. The sockets are about 10 to 15 years old so not entirely appropriate for this thread. Plus, I searched and was unable to turn one up aside from this thread ?

How much is a fair price on a diamond logo 1/4" drive S-K ratchet? People want outrageous prices on ebay and I already have the 3/8" and 1/2"

In 2018 for just a ratchet I paid $17.50 plus freight. In 2017 I bought 6 for an average of $12.00 plus freight. I purchased several sets either complete or partial containing ratchets averaging less than $30.00 per set plus shipping. Most of these were from the ‘40s. With eBay, patience is a requirement.

That new, they probably look just like the ones they're making today, you can get new individual sockets from HJ Epstein.

Dutch: thanks for sharing your SK collection with us. in case you might need a bigger drawer or two to hold your collection might I suggest (if you have the space) some old flat files. some of the old ones were built to last and i've put a few hundred pounds of tools in each drawer of mine and they still roll in and out ok.

also welcome to GJ!!

D42: always nice to see what you have to post pictures of. if you might want to post up some of your shop pictures on my thread so I can maybe get some great ideas on how to be ORGANIZED I'd appreciate it cause you seem to know where your STUFF is and i'm in CHAOS at the moment.

thanks in advance!!

ALL: or anybody else that might want to post up some ways they organize their cool collectibles or working tools please post on my thread too cause i need a few more ideas.

cheers

Not SK but maybe considered a blood relative. Couldn't pass up the artisan roll. The wrenches are all lectrilite except for 1 artisanIMG_20190209_104439010.jpg

Nice little knurled SK socket assortment plus a diamond logo 1/2" drive ratchet picked up this morning for $10 bucks at an estate sale. Let me know if anyone is looking for certain sizes of this vintage SK as I have several dups. I'll post separately about the old Barcalo Buffalo wrench on that thread and hope Don sees it there.

Guess I it's maybe time I should add my S-K to this thread.

I still have this 3/8" drive metric set. Advertised as 24 pc WITH metal box

I bought it off my younger brother when he decided to go into the Army after a couple of years after high school. He had originally purchased it to maintain on his 1980 Yamaha IT that he had bought new.

The inner label identifies the full sequence of shallow sockets 7-19mm as 6 points which they are but doesn't specify for the deeps 10-15, 17, 19mm. The majority are 12 point though the 11 and 19 are 6 pt. and the SK sparkplug socket is a 5/8" though it was supposed a 13/16" :headscrat

The original 12mm deep was missing so I causally replaced it with a 12 point deep from TSC just to have something in the box. For a long time back in the day this was my only metric stuff except for a small set of Metric Craftsman combos.

I had a 70's Harley so didn't need too much metric

I figure them boyz they must have lost some or traded them out.

Got around to cleaning up this S-K Wayne 3/8" Master Set... found it at an estate sale with the sockets all dumped in a shoe box. Managed to get all the pieces and it still had the tool catalog and inspection card with it

That's neat. Wish my older SK stuff had detents hate when they won't stay on a ratchet.

Questions about this tool box I just picked up. I've searched all over this site and even did an image search on google for the logo badge without finding one like it. Even checked the current S-K catalog but it looks like they don't sell boxes any more.

Figured I'd ask the S-K experts here.

It's a 3 drawer with handles on the sides like a road box but has the extended ledge around the top like it was meant to have another box on top of it. Is it the middle of a stack?

It came with two keys in the lock but they wouldn't turn, I removed all the drawers and the lock mechanism and promptly dropped it with pieces going everywhere, then I managed to assemble it backwards. Don't do stuff when you are tired.

Anyway, has anyone seen one like this? Can't find any model number yet so I don't know how old it might be.

I believe the badge would point towards the Facom era that would be 2000s. I am not super up on this era but it is a newer box than you may think.

Thanks, I bought it to use (only $15) on top of my KR557-KR547 stack until I can find a KR537 top box I can afford.

Just thought it was strange I couldn't find anything that looked like it online.

Drivesitfar, thanks for the idea. I kind of wait around to see what shows up and what I need. Only my SK and one old Craftman set are "built out" and complete in their boxes. Everything else is a hodge-podge, but they all get the work done. Also, when I lose one, I haven't broken up a set. I do use the SK a lot, they are solid and sturdy, and work well.

Is anyone familiar with the 1/2" 42477 ratchet that has the green screwdriver type handle? (sorry I don't have a photo) I believe they made a 3/8" one that I would love to have also. My 42477 is about 20 years old, and in great shape. Does anyone know what it's worth?

I bought this lot of tools on eBay to get the ratchet. All the rest was nice but I wanted a 1/2” drive version to go along with my 1/4” and 3/8” drive versions. I dipped the ratchet overnight to remove the rust. The set is now in the S-K collection. Anybody recognize the hex tools that came with?
