Thanks ganymede! Now if someone has details or better yet catalog images of what this box contained. Sure do miss twertsy's Tool Archives site.

Here is my slightly earlier box that might be the same configuration. I took my best guess on filling it up based on what fits. I think Username has a S-K/Lectrolite catalog if he is checking this thread. I have a copy but not where I am at the moment.

Yes they are marked tiger as well. Is there any plain Chrome Alloy marked ones? The old SK diamonds also have the Chrome Alloy on the back.

Here are a couple marked only chrome alloy

Are those really Chrome Alloy the name or the fordging technique? The wrenches appear to be similar to the Plomb 816X or Williams.

Thanks Don! That SK box does resemble mine. So you think it would have been 1/4" AND 1/2" drive tools? Interesting. Still hoping someone, somewhere has a catalog with this box and the included tools though! :)

Thanks for the catalog pics Roy! I don't think those are the same as this box as it has two different socket trays. The one on the left side appears to be for 1/4" drive. However, I still love seeing these old sets as they were offered back in the day. Very cool!

Here is a picture of it pretty empty when I got it. I tried it with 1/4” and 3/8” drive and the space on the right was obviously designed for 1/2” drive.

I've got the same box as well. SK/Lectrolite. I've been putting 3/8" and 1/2" drive in it.

Here's a pic of the empty box.

I have the 1958 SK/Lectrolite catalog and there's no match for that box/set in the catalog anywhere. Here's an image of the last few 3/8" drive sets as well as a combo 3/8" and 1/2" drive set. They don't list a combo 1/2" and 1/4" drive set.

After a bit of research, these wrenches appear to be part of an economy line produced by williams.

Same part number as the duohex, but a 1 in front of it. Who they supplied it to or made it for? No idea.

During the time that I’ve owned my box, I’ve experimented with a variety of configurations and finally settled on the 1/4” and 1/2” drive simply because those sockets seemed to fit in the racks most comfortably. Here are a few pictures of the box at different periods of time starting with 1/4” and 3/8” drive. The final picture is a 3/8” drive only box similar to the 4514 set shown by username above.

I'm surprised that the GJ SK community doesn't have knowledge of exactly what that box held. Kind of cool in a way as it's like stumping the experts but it would be nice to know. Thanks for sharing those pics Don.

It would be nice to find the exact contents of the set, especially since a few of us have the boxes.
I found some S-K tools at the Tahoe flea Saturday morning. Among the sockets is another of the Ford connecting rod sockets with several cracks. I always grab the early chrome Lectrolite wrenches if they are in good shape. I’m hoping that they will look better after some time in the evaporust.

For $2 I couldn't pass this up even though I expect SK boxes to be green and not this bluish color. What's the deal? I've tried and failed to find out about this vintage with metal handle and corner protectors. I have some older SK stuff that I'll organize into this box.

I wish I could find S-K tools at even a 25% clip of what you do. I'd be in high cotton.

Picked up 2 SK ratchets at the flea market today. Both skipped so I opened them up and found something I’ve never seen before.

Ended up rebuilding another drive insert and now it works like it should.

Also put a kit in the long handle 1/4”, that may become my new favorite.

As I mentioned back in post #1512, if you email S-K customer service with the model number they will send out repair kits at no charge.

-Don

True, but after doing that a couple of times, I was afraid of wearing out my welcome. I found a listing for just the refresh kits, for like .99 each. I bought a dozen in each size 1/4 3/8 & 1/2” drive. Now I can rebuild them the day I bring them home. I also have a baggy of spare parts I use in cases like above. I have found in some instances the full rebuild kits will not fit in some of the vintage ratchets. I also prefer to use the original selectors plate when possible.

Sam, where did you get them for .99c?

Wish I could remember, it was an industrial supply company. I think it was a link from here, but it’s been a few years. Only catch was S&H was like $15.

Edit: I think I may look to see if I have the invoice.

I found a few sockets yesterday at some thrift stores and some more tools today at a Tahoe garage sale. I’m not sure if this wrench will look that much better after the evaporust treatment but it’s a duplicate anyway.

I can offer no explanation but the color is original (I have one too). Great find!

I found several unmarked but obviously S-K tools at the Tahoe flea yesterday. I wasn’t sure about the sliding tee until I compared it with a marked one today. Other than the lack of markings they were identical. The 3/8” drive extension is marked Chrome Alloy. Another one for the collection.

Along with some more recently made sockets, I found a wartime finish, early patent, 3/8” drive ratchet at an estate sale yesterday.

Found a few interesting items today at the flea market. One of them was this set of wrenches wit what appears to be the original holder screw.

I found the tin at an estate sale on Friday, and after scrounging through my stash was able to put most of this together in an age-appropriate way.

Just missing the 3/8,7/19, and 1/2. I never set out to collect SK, but they seem to grow like weeds...

Nice find, Sam. Not even remotely as commonly found loose in onesy twosies as the same style kit wrenches from Indestro and J.P. Danielson, and sets are even more rare than that.

Thanks. It is the first one I have seen in the wild. Would have probably gotten the set if it was another brand, but once I saw it was SK I knew it was coming home with me.!
