I recently found this long 1/2” drive ratchet with the drive side broken. I’m waiting for the repair kit to arrive from S-K. It should be a pretty nice ratchet when completed and one I didn’t have. I also found this well used box yesterday that I feel compelled to fill up.
-Don

S-K customer service is great. I guess they were out of 1/2” drive repair kits so I received a brand new regular 1/2” drive ratchet from them yesterday. I transferred the drive parts into the long handle and it works like new.

Can someone explain how a wheel puller set works? I think I have a few of them and never new what they were for.
I believe that they are more of a wheel stud remover. You would thread it on to the stud and hit the other side with a hammer driving out the stud.

Forgot I had this 1/4 set. Clean, box is worn.
And some Flare wrenches too.

This type of "wheel puller" was designed to thread onto the end of a tapered axle. You hit it with a hammer to break the grip of the tapered hub to the tapered axle. They didn't work very well, and could damage the threads on the end of the axle if not tightened property.

I have remove a couple of those axle flanges you speak of. The ends are tapered and the flange generally is in there pretty good. Usually use a slide hammer to get them off.

Mostly I find S-K sockets, drive tools and wrenches but I found a pair of pliers at a Nevada estate sale today.

Found this toolbox in a local listing. I've not looked at it yet, but wondering if anyone can confirm that S-K did indeed make a stack like this or did someone just put a sticker on the bottom roller?
EDIT: Since posting this a couple minutes ago, I found some S-K catalogs online and found this in the 1970 Supplemental catalog 91513. Looks like this box or one very similar was offered by S-K, even though there are logos on the catalog listing that I can't read or recognize?

Definitely S-K after going to look at it and finding the catalog information mentioned above. The bottom was marked 1981, so a little later than I wanted and the top had some issues with the lid that I didn't want to deal with. Holding out for some other boxes I'm chasing right now.

You’re stronger willed than I am. Depending on the price, of course. I’d like to have a nice big SK roller to house all my SK gear. Maybe some day...

Been in the SK belt up here I have never seen a roll cab yet. Impressive.

$250. Bottom was in good shape, top needs some work done to the piano hinge and some welding to patch up some holes. Drawers on top and bottom were smooth as butter. Seems like the keys were there for both boxes. It has a really bad paint job from a previous restore that is going to require some real work to make look right. I've just got too many better boxes in my sights that I like better and require less work. If you guys are interested I can try to put you together with the seller. The only reason I even went to look at it is the same reason Roy mentioned. I've just never seen an S-K stack before, but did validate with the catalog page posted earlier.

I found enough 6 point sockets to pretty much fill up that well used box. Here it is next to a 12 point set.

Thanks. While I had them out, I took pictures of these sets in some kind of unusual boxes.

Always wondered about those blue boxes. Seems like they started around the lectrolite era.

I picked up a box for my 1/2” set at the flea market today. It’s rough, but it was only a dollar and it gets my sk stuff together.

Here is an sk chrome set. Had been painted with a paint brush so stripped it and gave it black krinkle coat.

Is it marked S-K Chrome? I just wondered because most of the wartime and prewar drive tools I run across are unmarked, except ratchets. My 1/4” drive S-K Chrome set came with an unmarked flex handle.

Thanks for the additional shots. If my theory is correct, the S-K Chrome set would have come with an unmarked breaker. All you need is one of those easy to find crossbars. :bounce:

Those look great. The larger 17” bars take a different crossbar than the shorter bars. I have one of the unmarked 41653 17” bars that I got from Roy. That will be a set that is likely to take me a while to complete, especially since I’m concentrating on completing the wartime set first. I’m looking for a 15/16” plain or cad plated socket if anybody has an extra.
