So between the Snap on rep and the apprentice who inherited this box from his grandfather, we were trying to figure out if this was a special edition box for Snap-one’s 50th or when this paint colour would’ve been available.

Any insights?

That box is very interesting. It reminds me of a KR 531. I've never seen that style or color before, and since it's a Canadian Snap On box, hopefully someone up there can give some information.

That's a real factory color on their anniversary box. The complete rollers show up every now and then. Sometimes we see pictures of them here in the toolbox thread.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the gold but to each their own.

Although the color is kinda dated, I grow tired of the whole "Red Snap-on box", "Red Ferrari" thing. Every one you see thats old is the same color. Kinda nice to see an outlier.

Tool Scrounge, were those only available in Canada, or the States too?

I agree with Horse, not a big fan of that color. Looks very '70s-ish.

Well that link to the Snap-on catalog was a US catalog. I have had Canadian and US made Snap On KRA 58 tool chests here in California. The quality of both was great. Unfortunately the Newmarket facility closed in 2011 and production was moved to the US. I presume that was due to the start of the recession.
