I bought this beautiful set from a 95 year old Danish gentleman last week. He brought it over from the "old country" in 1964 and believes he bought it 10 - 15 years before that. He was very proud of this set and took great care of it although he did manage to lose the long extension at some point in the last 60 years or so. However, it came with 3 Stahlwille SAE sockets and a couple of Hazet pieces as well.

The ratchet is surprisingly thin.

I have seen exactly 2 Stahlwille sets on CL over the last 8 years or so and for some reason I bought both of them. ;) Sadly, I mostly work on motorcycles these days so I rarely reach for 1/2 inch gear and when I do, there is usually a torque wrench attached to the socket. I suppose I should sell one or both of these sets to someone who can use them daily. Its not the easiest brand to price in North America so if anyone has any insight, I would love to hear from you.

The other set covers 8 - 34mm and was brought over by another European with good taste in tools.

Rusty: That's a great find. I buy Stahlwille bits and pieces whenever I find them. Stahlwille is high quality stuff.

keep an eye on ebay long enough (maybe a year, maybe a month) and you will find the missing vintage extension!

OR

if you want to speed up the process of finding it, watch ebay Germany - search on "STECKSCHLÜSSEL VERLÄNGERUNG"

Who knows?
Wow.

Gotta say, I was surprised at the difference between the exterior and interior pictures!

Very nice!

Thanks guys. RM209, I have never seen any loose Stahlwille pieces out in the wild but I'm glad you are finding some.

Summer of 2013 I met a guy who had several NOS Stahlwille wrenches. Not sure, but I'm guessing they were 60's or 70's vintage, but have no idea. I bought a bunch; some to keep, and a few others to sell on the GJ board. I still have a few available; they're listed in one of my older ads.

Thanks,

Early 50's for the older set will be right as that ratchet 502 was optional or in budget sets from 1955.

In 1955 set listed as 50/18/7 with switchable ratchet 512 or 502 and speeder 501

re 50/19/6

50 for 1/2" drive, 19 sockets, 6 accessories.

No suffix after 50 implies metric.

50a would denote American SAE a/f inch

50e would denote English Whitworth or BS

Other set is relatively recent.
