I know... I've been stuck on vintage stuff lately here at the Garage Journal. I'll move on soon, promise. That said, I've always wanted one of these super heavy old mechani...

Looks like a match to our old Alemite grease and lube roll-arounds we still have here at work. Also similar to my old art-deco cabinet here.

Don't you dare get un-stuck on the vintage stuff! I know you better than that!

Saw this at the 57 Heaven Museum in Branson Mo. Everything from 57. Don't know if this was manufactured then, or just still used. I do have a friend with one, like to have one myself. Joe

The below link is a panorama of the 57 Heaven Museum. Slowpoke has a better pic than in the panorama, but you can see the breadth of the museum. Just don't get upset by the newer SO box on the right of the oldie. In the Texaco station you can just barely see one of the complete workstation in the left bay in front of the 1957 Chrysler. 57 Heaven

These work stations / tool cribs are so AWESOME!

I have read that many were made by Alemite, so it is no surprise it matches the grease and lube roll-arounds 1950chevysurburban has at work. The old Alemite magazine adds depict these work stations in them as well, and are the closest thing I have to a 'guiding vision' for the lay out of my shop cabinets. Unfortunately, I have never managed to find an original one.

These guys re-popped some replicas of them, but they are too spendy for me:

Also: Someone on the board has one made by Lincoln, but I didn't jot down the name of who has it. I suspect there were many companies that sold these work stations 'back in the day'.

Later, Greg

Ok Ryan... You have poured gasoline back on this Alemite work station desire of mine re-igniting my quest.... so I called Jeff at Topps Restoration, just to price one of these out again. Yup... Too expensive for me ($3000 un-restored), but WOW he does good work. The ones I posted above are all restored originals, or re-pops made by him and his team.

It seems Jeff travels to all the big swap meets in the states surrounding Oklahoma buying 'vintage cool'. He now has a large storage building and yard full of original, Vintage, garage equipment like this original work station:

Or this original Lube Center:

Jeff is a great guy to talk with on the phone, so if you really, really want on... Give him a call.

But over here in my backyard garage I guess I'll just keep looking.

Later,
Greg

Awesome... Does he have a website?

Yup:

http://www.toppsrestoration.com/

It's got some great pictures, but he isn't much of a computer guy so you would need to call him to discuss things. (Indeed, he told me he hasn't even looked at his own website for several years and was glad it was still looking good.)

You can reach him here:
Jeff (405) 823-7974

If you're in his area I'm sure you would be given the full tour of his collection of 'cool'.

Let us know if you get anything,
Greg

I have had this one for several years. It is made by Lincoln Engineering Company. There is some stainless trim that I need to put back on.

I just can't get enough of this vintage garage stuff.

How about one or more of these in the 'ol garage:

AlemiteOildispencer.jpg

You could restore it like this one or gut it and use it as a cool cabinet.

Maybe house a small air compressor or a parts washer inside one.

I got 3 of these old Alemite benches out of an old Lincoln/Mercury dealership that was being torn down years ago. They have nice round corners.....

Went to an auction at a Chevy dealer here in MT 2 weeks ago, now I'm kicking myself for not bidding on the full work bench... I think it went for around $600, just like the one in the first posting....
I thought it looked cool, but didn't know how much these babies are worth. Later, I was the only one who bid on this cabinet. It looks like the center cabinet of another work station. no one else bid, so I got it for $5 !!!
Here's some pics... it was very greasy and I took it to the car wash and cleaned it up a lot. Then I put the hammer and dolly to it to fix the bottom edges as they were bent up. Gotta love the older steel for reforming...Came out really straight.
I put some primer on it, What do you think???

This thread is awesome, I love the old vintage stuff. I found this old fridge at an auction for one dollar. Its a (rare I guess) mid thirties Stewart-Warner fridge! Never even knew they made them till I found this one. It will be pretty useless as a fridge in it's condition (& I have my GE Monitor Top) but I should be able to make it into something!!

In my storage unit right now:

I have a vintage work bench I'm considering on selling, it's not a re-pop and I've had it for 20 + years. And in pretty good condition. I'm not sure how or where to post it in the Garage classfieds. Any info on where to post it or interested parties here is a photo. It also does need to be restored again, and a great one to do. I tried to insert a photo but not sure how. If you email me , i can send some pics. Joe

I have a vintage work bench (SHURE) I've had for over 20 years. I'm in the process of selling it. I would consider it to be in great condition for an original bench, was repainted just before I got it. Can be used as is or for a very easy restoration. I can send photos to anyone who is interested. $3,500.00 firm. Also have a vacuum cleaner (Graco) that's a very close match. Has a 30 foot hose and is in super working order. $375.00 I'm new to this site and haven't figured out how to list photos. Both are red and white. I can be emailed at [email protected] for photos. Also I'm located in west Texas, Lubbock to be exact.
Thanks Joe
