Here is an older Wright 6440 3/4” “Bull Bar” as they call it. Like a sliding t bar, but with a knurled handle, and set screw to lock in place.

Great examples. Wright was not shy about getting into the contract socket set business.

Spotted this on eBay, had to have it. NOS Western Forge 1/4 ratchet made by Wright. I'll get better pics when it arrives.

Very nice. I was contemplating picking up some things from the seller. Strange how all that WF stuff turned up.

Great find. Do we have a list going of the various brands wright supplied?

If you're talking ratchets, I had a list on another site, but it's in my head anyway, lol.

Kmart tools were Japanese but looked like a knockoff of Wright. That Japan maker supplied a ton of brands with basically those same cheap socket sets.

Speed master/power kraft, Fairmount, Martin, Billings, Gray, WF, Xcelite. That's all i can think of at the moment, I'm sure there are more.

You guys have named most. It gets tricky because some brands were strictly 3/4" or 1" drive. Others that come to mind are:

Ridgid, OTC, International Harvester, Matco, Mac, Allen. There are more.

Yeah, I was surprised by what all he had. The 1/2 set in the metal case was pretty cool.

I missed a bunch lol. I know I have seen IH and Matco (contour grip only I believe). I have not seen Ridgid, OTC, Mac, or Allen. Wowzers. Do you have pics?

Dave, just these very blurry pics of the Ridgid, from the 2014 GS thread.

I forgot to mention Bluegrass in the list of brands!

Mac- may be limited to lg drive sizes. I want to say I’ve seen a 3/4 pear head either on this site or elsewhere.

Matco- yes, the polished rats, but also lg sizes for them and some other former Danaher brands.

OTC- older round heads with screws, one sold recently on the bay. I missed that one. Hoping someone here got it.

I’m trying to think but there may be some Lg drive older round heads by Bonney/Bon E Con or Herbrand in there.

Ridgid 3/8 dr.. Doesn’t look super old. I’ll never forget how I found it though, as the replacement rat in one of those cheapo no name socket kits.

That is AMAZING. I have never seen nor heard of that contract production. I know the larger RHFTs were part of a soil pipe cutting tool. I wonder if this is the same way or if they made socket sets.
Thanks. This thread prompted me to dig it out and get cracking on the missing pieces!
What are you missing. I can check my speed master tub.

If you change your mind. Remember that I've got this ratchet sitting around. I know it doesn't exactly match, but how much Wright made Speedmaster stuff is around these days.

Lemme know.

Got the Western Forge no. 5815 today. It is almost identical to the Wright no. 2400

Took a bunch of photos the other day. Been on a Wright kick lately, so couldn’t exclude these.

Partial Xcelite set (the handle is Xcelite) and more 1/4 drive rats by Wright to go with Dave’s above.

Wardmastr,Xcelite,Fairmount,Wright,Powr-Kraft. Forgot to get the part numbers on the reverse side.

Got a couple slightly nicer shots of the 3/8 Ridgid.

Plus a black 3/8 G & G, a brand we left out the other day. I don’t have much of anything on that name. I think I’ve only ever seen these in black.

Thanks.

OTG posted this one a couple pages back, but I dug out a pair of nice 1/2” Speedmaster 84-4860 rats. Two of the same model, a slight stamp variation.

I have wondered if they modeled their contract business after sk. They just cranked stuff out for so many companies, its fun to try and sort it out.

Here’s one I found at a flea market last year as a seller was packing up. I was happy. For a very common model Wright ratchet, I never saw them in the wild much. Maybe due to the presence of Williams, Craftsman, etc.

Looks like it had a rough life, and then a harsh cleaning. Both cover screws were missing, yet it stayed together long enough to make it to me. Found a couple screws to fit. It still works excellent.

Marked 42+

Here is a pair of slide buttons. I sprung for the 3/8 to go with the 1/2 that I posted earlier in the thread.

1/2” N 52 marked -41
3/8” MN 52 marked -42
