Hi, first time poster, long time lurker.

I'm looking at a vise in the local classifieds. It's a 6" vise that says made in england on it, but no manufacturers name. The lady that is selling is approximately 60 years old and says it belonged to her father. The jaws are worn and missing a screw. I'm wondering if it's worth the $50 asking price, if it can be ID'd and where I would look for replacement jaws. Thanks.

Record, Woden or Paramo, most likely, (There may have been one more of that breed from the war/post war years) and any of the above are worth the asking price.

It looks very much like a Record No 36 but any Record vice with two digits in the number would have a quick release, which that one doesn't.
Odd.

She's just reduced the price to $80 for the vise, bench/cabinet and magnifying glass. I really only need the vise, but is it still worth it not knowing what brand and whether or not I can find replacement jaws?
