I remember reading a comment somewhere where the person said they can't remember ever seeing a vise come from the factory with already highlighted lettering. Well, I think this settles it!

i carefully use a rocking style blotter similar to this with good results.

I just buy those enamel paint pens you can get at Michael's. They even have a little BB inside like a spray can. About a buck a piece and the fine tip makes it pretty easy.

I use a small brush and trim the brush hairs to only a 1/2 dozen or so and the hairs are tapered to a point, then I get comfortable and paint by hand. I do these lettering pretty fast. I cheat a little by filing the tops of the letters so they have a small flat, it helps.

super, i use a smallest tip sharpie too, especially on some vintage engine refurbs with the tiniest lettering u seen. i like the stiffness of the tip compared to brush flex.

Here is a 8" Parker # 978 swivel base that was restored and a stand built for it from AZ. I believe a GJ member owns this. I did my little part and made a set of hard jaws for it.

very impressive c parker vise..thank for sharing

VA, I really do not know, this 8" long vise is for sale in a auction at Nashua, New Hampshire. Thomas Hall of Florence, Massachusetts created the design and Patent, how C Parker came to build it is anyone guess. Neet looking vise and should go pretty high. Thanks for sharing yours, on my way to Heat treat but will see if yours is on the spreadsheet.

Columbian 505M. 5" jaws. Older version of the M series. Note the C style jaws, not a trademark of Columbian's. Not a good idea painting everything.

Trying to find out when this vise was made. I have read a lot of the forum on Wilton vise but I can't find the date stamp anywhere on this thing.

No date stamps I've ever heard of on Shop Kings. I have this saved. Hope it helps. 34f44220c2956323ca003c0843f290a7.jpg

No Manufactures name on this one from Czech Republic but worthy of a post. 19-11/16 Jaws (50 cm) that opens to 17" (43 cm) and weights 1,830 lbs. Beats the 13" vise Royce and I built.
