Spent an hour looking for the appropriate thread. Even tried the Search Feature. This was the best I could come up with. New to the forum so navigation isn't my strong point.

Found this Yost 33 C locally. 100 lb. vise Looks to be in good shape. Seller wants $325 which I'm not inclined to pay. I would probably be willing to part with $200 to $250 for it. Not that I need another vise or one nearly that heavy. So what do you guys think is a good price for this vise?

Ron, there's a newer Yost with the small anvil on ePray right now for $399.99 and $99,99 shipping, that's in pretty new condition if that's any perspective.---While the one you are looking at doesn't have the anvil it looks to be in pretty good shape, and a 5''er is a handy size combo that could handle about anything you clamp in it.---You would have to consider shipping or traveling if the vise is not local to you, and that would add to how much you are sticking into it.---I'd say you are about right on your price range with shipping/road-trip included.---They are rated at 65000 psi Ductile Iron, so they are pretty tough.

Good hunting.

Thanks for the input, Grouseman. The vise is local, less than 30 minutes from me, so shipping or travel isn't an issue.

I normally like to strip and re-paint the vises with the original color, but on the "Show Us Your Vises" thread I found a really cool graphite gray paint I really want to try out.

Scott, thanks for the link. I found this amazing thread a few months ago, and have spent a lot of time there. Seeing the work those guys do is what motivated me to try my hand at refurbishing. If I can take some photos in the next few days, I will post some of my work. Been reluctant to do so after seeing what the masters have done.

Thanks Grouseman. I found that spreadsheet a while back and it is amazing. I have also found his website. Scott is amazing all the way around. He is a great resource as well as an accomplished craftsman.

Well a discussion of a colborne vise came up so here are a few pictures and some specs. I’d guess you would call it a Colborne acme 10 vise.

Prentiss 61. 2-1/2" jaws that opens up to 3" and weights 12lbs. Interesting open screw vise, I think this on has a stripped threads in the Static and possibly a different spindle.

I recall seeing that the Champion 13 was a 4"er, my guess is that the 15 is a 6"er

No, the 98 is a chipping vise, too ... some of the 58s (non-swiveler) actually had cast letters saying "HEAVY CHIPPING VISE". Don't believe I've ever seen it on a 98, bit it is 100% a chipper.

EDIT: They were talking about a swivel jaw, not a swivel base, a few comments above.

I wonder if somebody can help me identify this vise. The vise has 7” jaws and weighs in at 103 lbs. The back of the slide in the closed position measures a full 12”. The only markings are

Not sure what it is but that is crazy light for a 7" swiveler. Does it have hollow towers?

Yes the towers are hollow. My first thought was Columbian because of the weight and the fact that the back of the vise is dished out from hammering on it. Columbians seemed more malleable than other vises.
