Thanks, I always enjoy making the spreadsheet.i seems like these Reed logo vises are a bit hard to find. I just got a 103-S today that’s in beautiful condition, I’ll post a couple of pics when it gets here, I’ll look for the little brother on the spreadsheet that you have.

Wrenchguy
These t shaped jaws are just like Columbians, they’re held in with pins as well.

Prentiss no. 39 1/2
2 3/4 lbs
2” jaws
2” opening
Nickel plated

Very nice Prentiss! I don't see many nickel plated vises. Here's a 1900 Prentiss catalog page for your vise.

I swear Jeppen you never cease to amaze me, thanks for the scan. This vise was a daily user in somebody’s jewelry shop but they really took care of it. It has 90% of the original plating and no rust issues. I was really lucky to find it.

Those reeds look great. My 106-S as a 10 77 stamped on the front left quarter panel and it’s also stamped to the right of MFG CO>

These are the two places where the date is stamped. The vise also has an S for swivel stamped on the small square plate after the model number.

My first vise of 2020! Been looking for an offset jaw for a while, you don't see them around much.

Hollands no. 90 fixed base offset jaw filer's or carriage maker's vise. Unsure which. The jaws do have cast-in smooth faces.

4.5" jaw, opens 9-1/4", weight 66 lbs.

davethorik...That's a heck of a find! It's not only rare, but for 100+ years old, it's in great shape as well.

Your Hollands no. 90 vise was originally listed as a coachmaker's vise, and later a woodworker's vise.

You find any dates on it? I got 2 my heavy *** 106 2day , found 482 stamped on right side of slide towards bottom. I don't think it was a swiveler originally. I need a spindle screw split nut for it.
I'm putting more photos on AB's REED R SERIES date stamps thread later 2nite.

that was made april 1982 and model 106S. It originally had a swivel base, based off the S stamp. In this series of reeds, the N was a non swivel and S was Swivel. they were identical otherwise. they never had a four bolt reed stationary model in this series. this style started somewhere around 1975 and ran until 1983-85 when columbian supplied Reed vises.

Fierljeppen, thanks as always for having the obscure scans.

This vise was the recipient of a recent paint job, it looks OK when the pic is thumb nail sized but the white lettering is fairly sloppy. I don't think there will be any surprises, it seems well-cared for and not abused. Maybe 1/16 of a rotation of slop in the spindle is pretty good for being that old.

This one is definitely a keeper.

FJ, you have an extraordinary collection of brochures. Holland's in general are kind of rare (as are Athol), but you have produced many, including the even more rare offset Holland's
