This is an ultra rare Monarch vise no. 209 and it has a beautiful 100 year old coco brown patina. The jaws are 2-1/2” wide, it opens 3” and it weighs in at 9 lbs.

That’s a beauty Kevin, I saved that one to files years ago. Our 209’s are definitely first cousins and i wouldn’t be surprised if they were made around the same time at the same Prentiss factory.

Kevin, what year were the articles from ? Thanks.
Dave
Here is what the Owner mentioned.

“ACCO no. 54 swivel jaw
4" jaw opens 4.25" weight 60 lbs.
I have never seen a sj ACCO before.

did some digging, lots of good info on vintage machinery. org (where the catalog images came from)

1929, Fulton of Lowville NY sells the vise line to Manley Mfg division of American Chain Co. of Bridgeport Conn. it appears they made some design changes but in this case, kept the same model number as the Fulton version.”

In post #2586 I showed a couple of small vises I picked up at an Estate Sale. The red one turns out to be a Worth vise and according to the specs on the Vise Spreadsheet it's a model AA-11 with 2 1/2" wide jaws and a clamp on base. Here's some photos after some light cleaning. Some shots with my Sawyer Tools 24 1/2 vise for size comparison...

Continuing from the last post, in post #2586 I showed a couple of small vises I picked up at an Estate Sale. Here is the black one which is marked with an unknown (to me) logo and the #8. Jaws measure 2 1/2" wide and opens to 2 1/2". Once again, pictured with my Sawyer Tools 24 1/2. Any help on the identity is appreciated...

Looking for a replacement screw for a Clark vise
That double side hump to support the front support for the rail makes it look like a RAE vise. RAEs were originally made in Hamilton and might have made this vise for Clark which is only 30 minutes away in Merritton. Just guessing. Far more RAEs than Clark's as RAE was around a lot longer and was "the largest vise mfr in canada" according to RAE. There are two design versions for RAEs. Models 2-1/2 to 7" and Models 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 60 (3", 3.5"....6" jaw width). Based on your jaw width, you could try the matching one from RAE. Which series, I do not know. Just a thought....

Unknown, no markings. 5" jaws, opens to 8". The entire base including the very long dynamic jaw support and bolt-down lugs is the same thickness, estimating 1/2 to 3/4" thick.

Unknown, only marking is "5" on the right side of the dynamic near the handle. 5" jaws, 8" opening. Distinctive shape to the static jaw tower, with thick leading edge. Look familiar to anyone?
