So after looking through countless pictures of everyones work benches, I am still at a loss. The first attached picture is the bench I built myself last fall. The posts are 4x6 and the top is strung together with 2x6s. The problem is, that due to the 4x6 posts in the corners, it's making mounting my vise really difficult for having a clear spo tto drill for the bolts. If I want it on the corner, I have to slide it back too far in to the bench to clear the post. My other option is to slide it over further in from the edge closer to the center of the bench, but i'd like it as close to the corner as possible. And even then, I have to slide it in further than id like to clear the 2x6 (my vist isnt very big) Anybody run in to a similar issue? I'm thinking maybe I could build an overhang of sorts off the right side of the bench that I could attach the vise to? I have an idea of something I wish I could fab out of metal, but maybe someone knows if it exists for purchase? I driew a quick sketch in paint and attached it as well.
Thanks!
Thanks!
