Looking to mount a shop vac on wall with a long hose for car interiors. Any suggestions? For occasional use, not commercial.

Metro Wall Mount Vac N Blo usually gets good reviews. Metro is pretty expensive, wonder if it's worth it.

I too have one of the Metro Vacs mounted on the wall in my garage...as does a friend. I added another section of hose to mine and I can get anywhere in the garage...even upstairs. It's a great unit.

The only downside I can imagine is that it's not a wet or dry vac.

It's also worth mentioning that I don't use it for the "blow" feature. (I actually bought Metro's Master Blaster) The Vac n Blo switches to a blower by placing the vacuum hose on the output. It works, but seems counterproductive to me that I'm using the same hose that was just sucking up dirt....and now using it to blow.

You may want to consider a central vac unit - while they are far more expensive than a typical "shop vac" or even a garage vac, if your garage is attached to your house, and you have access to the attic to run the pvc, they make for an awesome upgrade for interior cleaning and far more powerful too. Might be more than you are looking to spend, but something to consider.
(I'm a fan of Beam brand)

Here's the direction that I went.

I chose a wall-mount vac due to the small size of my garage (20x20) and I really dig it. If you are looking for a wall-mount option, then I do recommend it.

Here's the link:
Craftsman Remote Control Wall Mount Vac

The cool thing about it... besides the accessories and the wall mount option (can be taken down easily and used wherever you want as a standard wet/dry vac) is the "remote" option. It uses bluetooth to the end of the hose... so you you can turn it on and off while you are vacuuming out the car, or that specific corner of the garage.

I don't use it as a wet vac (it can be though), and i use the HEPA liners, so there's no dust from the output. I also wouldn't call this a "heavy duty" setup, but it works great for just about everything else (sawdust, leaves, car vacuuming, general cleanup, etc.)

Hope that helps.

I have had this one for a couple of years and it ***** - NOT in a good way. Doesn't have remote control On/Off, hose diameter is too small in my opinion. Overall, just didn't like it so I gave it to my young neighbor. He didn't like it either and put it in the trash.

Glad to hear from GLFlyer that he is happy with his Craftsman wall mount vac^^^. I just recently bought one and will be installing it this weekend.

No pics because we have four inches of snow and I'm not venturing out.

On sale after Christmas for five bucks or so, THIS is the type remote I use on vacuum and on pumps.
The control is placed in a zip lock bag and attached directly to the end of the hose I hold on to for the pump, just rubber banded to the hose on the vacuum.
It allows me to be more general in my search for vacuums and such, being able to place the button at my whim.

How do you know it'll be on sale after Christmas?

I like the idea of these. I'm wondering if they'd work to plug my garage/shop fluorescent lights into?

I have the older version of the Craftsman wall mount and an aftermarket wireless switch. Thanks for posting this. I was thinking of getting the Bissell if the Craftsman dies. Now I know not to.

I also purchased the craftsman vacuum and am happy with it. The hose is not long enough so I bought an extra hose that sears had on their site at the time. Just so happens to fit the inlet of the vacuum nicely along with the end of the hose that would normally go on the vacuum. Think its 10' long but its not listed on sears' website anymore.

I’m glad to hear the positivity for the Craftsman listed above as I just bought one today from a Sears that’s going out of business so no chance of a return. I like the 10’ expandable hose that it came with and would like to purchase another one but at $32.80 it seems pretty steep for a hose. Any recommendations for a cheaper direct fit alternative to this hose is greatly appreciated

I have the Hoover GUV. It has been great. I have yet to hang it in my new garage but will get around to it soon.

Can you provide details of your setup? This looks like exactly what I would like in my garage!

I have used the harbor freight version of these remotes on my fluorescent light over my projection screen in the garage, it's worked great for years.

Do you have an attic in your garage? A friend of mine mounted a 14-gallon Ridgid vacuum (Model WD1450) in his attic and came down through the ceiling with 2-inch PVC and 2.5-inch Shop-Vac hose to a wall-mounted Oneida 5-gallon bucket and Dust Deputy. It worked great. He had enough vacuum hose to reach anywhere in the garage. Similar to this without the wall piping.

I purchased a used central vac unit . If you can find one ,they are pleanty powerful
I found mine from a central vac rep installer in town. They typically come across
Used units. Mine needed a new motor , and I paid $100 including the new motor.

Your Prolux (I’ve not heard of this brand before now) is shaped kinda like the Bissell I had no luck with. Does it have an On/Off switch at the end of the hose? I wonder if they’re actually the same vac? Hope it works god for you!

Works great so far very good suction. No on/off switch at end of hose but hope to add one.

No need for snarky comments. There are always other options for anything, depending on one’s budget. I went with this MetroVac unit due to its construction, long hose and detailing accessories. There are several other more affordable MV options, but I have been a big fan of their stuff for years.

I have an old house central vacuum upstairs in my garage. I plumbed it down and have 1 outlet near the overhead door. I have 2 hoses that I can connect together to vacuum cars in the driveway and even the boat parked next to the garage.
I used to run my father's vacuum store and this was a "trade in". You might want to check with a local vacuum store or someone who installs central vacuums and see if theyhave any used ones cheap. I used to have a list of people looking for used ones for their garage.

Pro tip guys....if you have a paper bag in these types of vacs...make sure you don’t vacuum up HOT grindings or other things that could start a fire in them.

I knew a guy who actually did just that....the vac I bought doesn’t need that paper liner...all metal inside.

Something to consider.
