I was giving someone some info on overhead doors & started to wonder if there was a way to move the automatic door openers. They are not usually a problem being up at the ceiling, but I have a lift & was worried about clearance when I get around to installing an opener one day. I found this searching on line & thought I'd share. It may only work on a Wayne Dalton door with a certain spring system, so check first.

Wall-mounted door opener

Looking for simpler installation? Now there's the idrive, which mounts on the wall above the garage door, eliminating the belts, chain, screw drive and track that used to clutter a garage ceiling. Made by Wayne Dalton, this opener is the first of its kind; it's quieter than any chain drive opener, uses 50 percent fewer parts to install, and comes with a Life of Home warranty, a wireless security light and an optional keyless entry pad. Price is about $400 per idrive. Call Wayne -Dalton at (800) 635-5139 or go to wayne-dalton.com.

I haven't looked into it because I'm not worried about an opener right now, but it is something I may want later on.

Yeah the I drive, couple of guys here have them, Chucks Crib is the one that comes to mind right away. Pretty cool unit IMHO. When I replace mine or build new I will do one of these. Just makes good sense to me and has to look better overhead too.

Still under construction, but I got a really good deal on a Wayne-Dalton at Lowes, and quite a few guys on the Corvette forum spoke highly of it, however, there was a thread a few weeks ago on this forum where a few people voiced their displeasure with both the product and the service. or rather lack thereof that they received from Wayne-Dalton, owning one I hope those were isolated incidents

I have had an idrive for over a year now and love it. It is quick, nearly silent, and the controls are wireless. I installed it myself have not had any issues.

I have been using 2 idrives at the garage up at the house for over a year. Excellent product.

I just remodled my shop out back and am having one installed there as well.

They offer them for both their TorqueMaster™ counterbalance system and any sectional steel or wood garage door that uses traditional torsion springs.
