Who makes a good wall mounted vacuum? I bought a cheap unit from Lowes two years ago and only work well for maybe 10 times. What do you have?

I bought one made by Craftsman about 10 years ago. I don't know if they still carry the same unit, but if they do I would buy another. I am not a big fan of Craftsman, especially since most of their stuff is cheap chinese **** these days. But, the vacuum has been great.

I have two I use regularly. The shop vac on top I've had 10+ years and still going strong and the craftsman I purchased this year. Both can easily be lifted off the wall and moved to a different location.

I also have the Craftsman. I use a 40 foot pool vac hose to be able to reach around the cars in my driveway.

I have a Beam central vac mounted on the wall of my garage. 20' foot hose connects directly to the unit. Even ***** up gravel dragged in off the driveway.

I bought a Craftsman a few years ago and hooked it up to my glass bead cabinet, which usually kills a shop vac in about a year. It has lasted several years. And I am not a fan of Sears.

Yep, same here. I bought mine at Sears back in '08 and it still works fine.

I am not familiar with that particular model but Emerson electric has made many of their shop vacuums as well as the Rigid ones at Home Depot. They usually hold up quite well for the price.

I recently installed a Vacumaid and like it so far. It ***** well and is much quieter than my old roll around shop vac. Only issue I have is that the canister around the motor gets quite hot. Hope it is not a sign of impending failure. It is only two months old.

So Electolux and Beam have the same owners? There are a lot of central vacuums. I was planning to hang up my Rigid and just add the little cyclone.

How much difference in suction? Bags would be nice.

The heat is normal. It's all steel, and that's where the motor is mounted. Just a little odd nowadays, when we're used to having everything thermally isolated.

Mine's been working like a champ the entire time I've owned it, and that ****** will still just about burn your hand if you touch the bottom when it's running.

I think they're just relying on the housing to keep it cool, and since that heat never makes it very far up the barrel, it must be working.

bushmechanic,

Thanks for the comforting words regarding the hot canister on the Vacumaid. I was worried about using it for long periods of time like to vacuum my whole garage but this puts my mind at ease.

I have a Performax that Menards sells.
It is marketed under several brand names, including Craftsman.
It has a on-off remote which is handy at times.
I purchased extra hose and can reach anywhere in the garage.
It is easily removed from the wall if needed.

I have been looking at them too. One thing you need to pay attention to is that some of them will not do wet pickup. Not sure how important that is to you but something to think about.

Very nice. Any details? Do you remember the brand of hose reel? Looks like an aftermarket exhaust muffler? You have exactly what I want to setup.

Couple of things to consider...that vac has a steel bin...so if you pick up hot metal is is less likely to start a bag on fire. Also...can do wet.

I am in snow country...so the interal exhaust is to keep heated air in...and noise reduction.

That is a purpose built Cox Reel...pricey but holds about 80' of hose to reach the driveway and boats...the vac is s the cheapest one Amazon had that had good ratings, metal bin and the most suction...

Reviving this thread. What should I look for when purchasing one? I want to wall mount it in the center between my doors and reach about 20 feet out. Garage is 25x35. I won't do anything crazy, just want general clean up.

I have been very happy with the Vacumaid with 50' hose. Have had for a year now. Just have to remember no wet carpets.

I've got this one

https://www.ridgid.com/us/en/5-gal-stor-n-go-wet-dry-vac

good suction, wall mounted to keep off of floor. Must be 10 years old, works fine. The shopvac brand I purchased first, sucked (and not in the way a vacuum should)

That is actually not too bad. While I like the vacuum aid, I don't feel I need something that robust. I think 21 fee if placed in the right spot would work just fine.

its really only 14' the 7' is a collapsible hose so it goes down to about 3-3.5 feet when not being extended. I take mine down to use it, I wish the hose was a little longer so I could leave it in place.

Do you combine them?
