Do any of you shop on Walmart.com for tools? Why or why not? Would you respect a brand less if available on Walmart.com vs Amazon or elsewhere?

I've bought some Astro Pneumatic and GearWrench stuff (and a handful of other items) from 3rd party sellers through walmart.com.

It's a marketplace. Whether or not I buy it from Walmart themselves, or a 3rd-party through the website, I'm buying the product, not the marketplace.

If the marketplace is secure/trusted (and I really have no reason to distrust Walmart/walmart.com over anything else), then I really don't care who the marketplace is.

I prefer Amazon, due to my Prime subscription, but I do some cursory price shopping before plunking down on Amazon.

If the item is priced the same as Amazon, I'll default to Amazon.

When I'm shopping online I'll often start with Google to see where the item (tool) is available. Sometimes I order from Amazon, sometimes Walmart, sometimes a specialty tool retailer, comes down to price, ease of ordering, and in a few cases return policy if I'm ordering something that I worry won't meet my expectations.

If the part number is the same I expect it will be the same tool, same quality regardless of retailer

I've bought Knipex and Klein and Channellock tools from both Walmart and Amazon. I'm talking about direct, not 3rd party sellers.

I prefer to buy from Walmart since I get my orders quicker and returns are easier. I didn't pay the big bucks for Prime and Amazon is extremely slow for me. I usually get Walmart orders in 3 days. I get my Amazon orders in 7-10 days.

Funny you should bring this up, I just posted about it a little while ago.

To answer your question, yes I’ll shop Walmart for tools. Now that Jet is running Walmart’s website, it’s semi usable.

I use Amazon. I have not been quite pleased with my purchases. Pat attention to whether it is an actual Amazon stocked item or another vendor going through Amazon. That can dictate the ETA and cost

3rd party buys is where you can get stung with counterfeits.

price being equal, will order from Walmart.com. Would like to encourage viable competition with Amazon in the ecommerce space.

I've ordered through Walmart.com twice. Both times I had problems.

I've ordered through Amazon.com quite a few times. Never had a problem.

I would venture to say that if a tool is easily available on Amazon I would be more willing to purchase it.

I typically buy through Walmart.com. My wife is a Walmart retiree and there are a couple of financial reasons to do so. But I like free shipping to store cos I can pick up my stuff at the store rather than have it left at the door for porch pirates.

I won’t touch Walmart. Many times I’ll follow the search engine only to land on a Walmart page that says the item is not available. Sears does this as well. They just load their website with content to get traffic. The content they do have is largely 3rd party sellers. I generally avoid them (even on Amazon). Now I’m at a point with them where I won’t waste my time clicking the Walmart link. I have other gripes with them having fallen for their Black Friday marketing stunts (oops, we don’t have it because we never got it). I’ve been a long time Amazon customer and they have been good. Not perfect, but far better than anyone else.

I find Walmart’s site to be a pain. I’ll list a few reasons why.

First it constantly lies about available products that are available when I do a broad search on google. I’ll click the Walmart link and then it will display item no longer available.—I see the post above me mentioned this, I believe in the long run it deters return traffic to the site.

I also can’t figure out what items are available today in store when I do a search on their website. My wife says there is a category for that but when I click it I get a bunch of stuff that also isn’t available in store.

The third party sellers on Walmart are not as reliable as amazon. I’ve bought items and they never shipped and getting my money returned was more delayed when dealing with Walmart as opposed to amazon.

So my vote goes to amazon.

Amazon. Definitely Amazon.

Wal-Mart’s website is just awful in terms of sorting, an unnavigable mess, it makes the often glitch filled Sears site seem good.

One you decide to sell to a online reseller instead of a distributor its makes no difference selling to Amazon or Joe Blow who operates from his moms basement

Any parts, warranty concerns or general questions with the public will have to be dealt by yourself

Regarding having less respect for company that sell to Amazon. Its a very short list of tool companys that dont. Milwaukee, Stihl. Hazet. Toptul are some

I'm not opposed to Walmart, but because I have an Amazon credit card and they have a 5% cash back, I favor Amazon. Overall, I shop for the best price, and consider the discount in the transaction. If I venture from Amazon I also look at ebay.

If it's an item I think I may return, I also consider free shipping because shipping fees are not refundable.
