$80 for a brand new torque wrench that sells for $265 on Snap On's site?

It's gotta be a little warm, no?

Why get excited over a Snapon Torque Wrench, they don't warranty calibration issues do they? HF does on my $12 torque wrench.

Also goes for ~$150 on ebay, so yes, it's a good deal. Almost too good.

Seems like a good deal to me. If I needed one I would drive over and take a look.

Cheap watches often tell time quite accurately. What makes a watch expensive isn't related to accuracy as much as it is time between windings and effort required to wind.

With a torque wrench if you focus on durable, but not extremely accurate, holding mediocre but within tolerance accuracy may not be a hard thing to do.

I should have posted sooner so as not to waste anybodys time. Yep, I was able to snag it for $80. The seller was local and drove it over to me a few hours after I called. It is brand new, the knurled handle is pristine, usually the first part to catch some grime. It was manufactured and tested in Jan 07 so hopefully nothing has changed from just sitting. I am not sure whether to keep it or not, but I know I'm not likely to find another new one for less and local too. I already have a decent mid-range SK torque wrench, but this SO ....is just nicer!

Funny that I was getting ready to post a whining thread about never getting any deals on ebay or CL because of all the competition here!

Geez, the guy even drove it over to you? He must have been desperate for quick cash...at that price I am surprised he didn't have ten people beating down his door trying to get it.:headscrat

FWIW they just tested various torque wrenches in last month's Grassroots Motorsports and found the high-end truck brand one to be the most inaccurate and it had supposedly been just calibrated. The el cheapo special and $100ish C-man unit did the best.

Is that available online, or print only? Sounds like it would be an interesting read.

When I worked at a tire chain store they had a guy come around once a month to check torque wrenchs to make sure they were calibrated.
The shop had a dozen or so truck brand units and the techs had many different brands of their own. The cheapies seemed to always be much closer to spec than the truck brand stuff.
The techs used their stuff just as much as the "shops" heck most of the time you couldn't find a shop tool :headscrat
