Found in a tool box containing brace bits.
Teeth on only one side of a V shape opening.
If you jam it on a something, it could sort of turn it like 1/2 of a pipe wrench.
Stamped made USA.
Ideas?

It's a one size fits many wrench. Probably a bicycle tool.
They're really made for square fasteners, as they slip on a hex.

It is an exact knockoff of the first Roebling "Alligator" (trademarked) wrench. Link to my GJ thread here to see the same exact wrench made by Roebling and for further reading.

And it appears to read "W. & B. Co" on the corners of the MADE IN U.S.A. rectangle. Perhaps Whitman & Barnes.

Thanks guys,
Never saw or at least never noticed one before.
There is a lot of gnashing of teeth about not using 12 point sockets on hex head bolts here because it might slip or what not.
Guess back in the day, a little slippage was par for course.
thanks Lugz for the link. Interesting read.

Here is a utube vid Skip to 8 minutes to see similar in use.

Wow, that thing is cool. I'm not much of a Euro collector, but this is now the second time I have seen a vintage American tool still being made in modern form from a European mfgr. The first was even more mind-blowing for me when I happened upon a thread up on the General Tools forum discussing FACOM cles-a-pipes style socket wrenches. Click here and then see my posts #50 and #53 on page 3. I had no idea on those, and none on this alligator/adjustable combo. I suspect you couldn’t find either from a US mfgr. I have to give credit.
