Hi,

I joined Garage Journal about 3 weeks ago and have enjoyed reading a lot of the posts.

I bought a Weaver ( older US model ) about 3 years ago and have been using it for personal use. I lifted my 1991 C3500 flat bed all the way up about a week ago and noticed the safety catches on the side opposite the controls were not engaging, they moved toward the slots on post, but were so far away they do not engage, if I let the lift down and do not disengage the safety, that side will lower about 4 or 5 notches before they start catching in the slots.

I looked at a diagram of a Weaver AFH 70B on SVI International site and my lift is about the same, one difference is mine has slides and the 70B has rollers inside the posts, it looks like the top slides are bolted in and can be replaced or new ones made by a machinist, the slides and surfaces seem to be smooth and well greased, but it came from a Cadillac dealership built in the 70's and has probably seen a lot of use, if the top of carriage were pulled in about 1/2 inch or so, it would make the pawls catch in the slots and be safe.

I think I got a good deal, I paid $600 for it and had to buy a hydraulic hose for $52 and installed the lift myself.

Thought I would post this and maybe another member has had the same problem with a similar Weaver lift.

Thanks,
Larry

How are the locks engaged and disengaged? Cable like in the Rotary lifts? If yes, cable adjustment is probably the answer.

I have a Weaver AFH72 that I took apart several years ago to restore & ju got around to pitting it back together. Unfortunately, I threw away the old wiring and can’t remember how I had it wired! There are only 3 wires to connect, a black, green & white. There are also two black wires conn together separately. I replaced the up & down switch and don know how to connect it to the power box. There are 3 screws in the switch. I’ve spent hour/days trying to research this & can’t find any information online. Would you please take a couple pictures of the inside of your power box and the inside of the the switch & send them to me? It would be a lifesaver! I’m in desperate need of my lift to repair my wife’s car..

I apologize, I apparently posted pictures in a dm. I have the wires marked. My problem isn’t necessarily connecting the power source, it’s connecting the up/down switch.. I really appreciate your help!
When I turn the lift on, it rises to the top & want’s to keep going. I need to connect the switch so I can control the movement.

Seems like if it is 220 V single phase white and black go to power or L1 L2 and green is ground, the switch would cut power to those two lines. You would probably get better response if you posted some pictures
How would I wire the switch? What size wire do I use? It’s obviously a much smaller wire, due to the small opening leading to the switch. Thank you!

I think you need a wiring diagram from either the lift manufacturer or find online somewhere. Also follow the tag on the motor regarding which voltage you are using

My issue isn’t hooking up the motor to 220. The issue is connecting the up/down switch to the motor. I have searched everywhere and have been unable to locate these specific schematics.

I have a Weaver AFH-72OH that I bought used and put up. I'm looking for a manual for any AFH-72. There are some missing parts for the safeties, and I would like to get them working properly. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
