I just opened up this site on my phone just using my default browser (Samsung). Easy to view and navigate.
Looks like my bathroom sitting time is going up

I book marked "What's New" as my go to page. How can I get a full page of it rather than "Latest Profile Post" taking up most of the page. I'm not interested in LLP. Thanks.

EDIT: BTW, for the link above, right above the results list to the right, there a drop down for filters that will allow you to customize what you want to see.

Previously when we were on vB, I bookmarked the control panel which showed new posts for the only the threads I was subscribed to. So now that we're on XF, I have this bookmarked: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/watched/threads

Yeah, I'm at 80% and, with the sans-serif font, it's soooo much better than day one. Ryan has been super responsive to suggestions.

Yes, the new site is now MUCH BETTER on iPad! The elements (buttons, etc.) are big enough to get your finger on now. The “Mark Read” button is up top by itself (YES!) instead of hidden in a tiny drop-down that was hard to use on a touch screen. Likewise the page numbers for forums, and in threads, are now really usable on iPad without having to zoom the screen to make the elements large enough to touch. Really happy with the new site.

EDIT: Another nice feature discovered just now—unread threads in a forum are flagged “New!”. Love it!

The upgrade has been awesome! Works better on the iPad and mobile. I normally use a desktop and just realized you can highlight someone else's text and the "quote/reply" buttons comes up automatically.

Keep it up, I learn so much here that I really hope all the knowledgeable member's keep coming back.

not sure of the change...it is VERY slow and using a Kindle tablet I am getting "too much memory" errors...I may be leaving because of it
Really ? You've been here for 10-11 days and the transition has taken a large portion of that time.

I'd say it's very rude to come to a new forum, that costs you absolutely nothing , and start griping how it has changed .

Ask for assistance and you'll more than likely get it, especially from Ryan, the guy that owns the place, fronted the money for the switch and pays the bills to keep the lights on. The guy worked 39 hours straight to get this done, got a few hours of sleep and has non stop helped out the guys and girls here.

First upgrade I have ever witnessed that wasn't a total poop show. Usually half the content is gone, etc.

Well done... I shudder to think of the effort that goes on behind the curtain.

Oh... I assure you... It was a total **** show behind the curtains. Hell, I started this 18 months ago... at least...

I screwed up and had false starts more than I can count.

The auto drafts is a very cool and handy feature, especially when you move, literally, between desktop and mobile platforms, or vice versa. (Then again, might be funny and/or risky if the statement ever glitches and releases premature first thoughts instead of edited second thoughts! Haha)

Very happy with the change!

Is there a way to set up dark mode? As a work around right now, I use a Dark Mode Extension for Firefox.

I tried posted fix, but it doesn't last. I still end up in "Newest Post" along with "Latest Profile Post" which still takes up most of the opening page.
If possible, I guess I want "new replies" to all postings in all forums. I hardly ever make a first reply to a post.
thanks.

I need a break, so let me give you some context...

My neighbor has had secret service stationed outside his property since early this year for reasons we won't break forum rules for. I don't like this neighbor much, but have grown to become pals with his secret service detail. They are good guys... interested in cars, tools, working... you know, real ****... I bring them coffee at least one morning a week.

Anyway, about a month ago they apprehended someone right outside my property. Was this some crazy political activist or the like? Nope. A banned Garage Journal member looking to get even.

So yeah... My mind tends to wonder every now and then.
This may sound a bit crazy to most but I know of a well known forum member who had some random folks calling his house and basically stalking him and his family due to some variances in what he valued some things at versus what someone thought they were worth and paid... people are absolutely nuts!

Exciting to see all the new features. No worries about any little bugs along the way. Your efforts to make this forum even better are much appreciated.

Agreed, it's so much better on my phone than it used to be! I used to have to turn my phone sideways and zoom in to read. It's great!

This experience reminds me of getting used to a new car or a new wife, a little strained at first; but then once we became comfortable with each other we are getting long just fine.

Speaking as a forum admin running a 20-year-old heavily-customized software package, I am watching with fascination and terror. This should be fun.

Oh joy. Someone that can relate to my terror.

This fall I will be doing an upgrade from XF 1 to XF 2 on jalopyjournal.com - a 28 year old forum that has one of the largest forum databases in the world. If I screw it up, my kids won't be going to college. No pressure. Breathe. It's all good.

You might do it the week after the Roundup, not the week before. haha.
No reason to worry though, you pulled this off and swapping that one over years ago, this time should be a walk in the park.

As an IT type guy, this was a tremendous effort. Overcoming the inertia alone to "fix" what at least was a working platform is tough. Like the look, well done.

I left JJ.com when it did its update a few years back, because I couldn't get the search to work well enough for me to understand it. This, this has been a very easy transition. The old features (like search and quote) were easy, pretty much seamless to understand. AND I SO LOVE THE PIC THING (I'm still getting the hang of it, figuring out the correct size the pics should be). If you're doing the JJ update, I may just go back (I really do miss it). Somebody should double your salary, Ryan.

PS. I do miss the emoticons, but not enough to bother with them. Incredible work, Sir.

If that has calmed by now, I have a suggestion: mark the OP whenever he posts further down in the thread. This helps posters recognize it's the thread-starter who is posting on p.5

some places put a diagonal 'ribbon' on these posts with an "OP" on it.

I was in the club dreading the change because my second favorite forum switched to this format a few months ago, it was horrible. Turns out they just did it very badly. This is mostly awesome, what is not awesome I will probably figure out in time and it will be awesome too!!

Thanks for listening to the feedback and addressing the comments, and great job prioritizing the fixes suggested. That can't be easy.

Well the problem I was having still isn't fixed yet. When I click on a thread I have not read yet, it takes me to some random post in the middle or end of the thread, and I have to scroll all the way up to the beginning. Getting pretty irritating.
