Great job @Ryan. I'm super positive about this change, xenforo feels like a massive step forwards

Edit: this feels a LOT faster too.

It's got something to do with our base style... But I can't find a reference to it anywhere... Could you try deleting your cache, logging off and then back in? If you don't mind, let me know.
I did try deleting the cache and restarting at the time, but it didn't seem to help. However it now (several hours later) seems to be fixed and I am no longer getting that message. :)

Ryan, thank you for caring enough to improve something that was already awesome! I'm looking forward to enjoying many more years here.

Just take your pointing device and hover over your screen name or any other screen name and a popup window appears with total number of messages. That is your post count. Just experiment and try stuff out. I really liked the old way also but since the old forum software is no longer supported the change had to happen with the migration to this new forum software. This I know has been a lot of work for the admin team and thanks to them good job at least the site is back.

My followed threads are gone, and I can’t access any of my 267 posts, which the forum says I have, but when I click on « messages » (I assume that this is what it is), I can’t see them. What the hell?

Well done.

I expect we will get familiar with the new software.

Thanks for the like button.

I am old, with bad eyes. Will there be scalable font or a bold feature of is the theme set in stone? If the font was darker it would be helpful.

Good luck with the hard work that remains.

I recognize the design. When I searched on google for things it would provide links to the the garage journal, but it always seemed like it was the garage journal from another dimension. I think it looks great, it will obviously be a little of a learning curve for some of us but it’s all going to be alright.

Just now logged in this morning and looking around. I'm sure that there will be some getting used to but right now I am liking this new format and looks. Great job, Ryan! And thanks for the new diggs.

This is fancy! As a HAMB member This is all pretty familiar, and with a bit of poking around it's easy enough to figure it out. Great job!

I think twice now, i've hit "quote" to reply, and it didn't put in the quote.
Now, the quote was very short, just a word or two, so idk if that has anything to do with it.

Ryan, thank you for the hard work. I'm not gonna lie, all of the negative comments over the past few weeks had me nervous about the new format as I spend a lot of time on this forum, but I like the new format. And the font this morning is much nicer than what was there originally last night.

Thank you for allowing us to have a great place to share ideas, photos, learn from one another and create friendships with like minded people. This is a great forum with great people.

For those unhappy with the font, go to your preferences (drop-down from your user name at the top) and change the "style" to "stock XF 2.2 style". This is more like the old forum and waaaay easier to read.
interestingly, I don't see this option. Not that I have a huge problem w/ this font.

That option was cached and not everybody saw it last night, for the Style.

Since then, Ryan has changed the font to what you see now. I think we all agree it was better than what first appeared.

Finally! Thank you for the work. The old forum interface was the worst part, and this looks great! Plus a Like Button!

Thank you!!!

Gotcha, that explains why the sweeping letters are gone. The notification that you quoted my post is pretty neat!

Good Job! Migrations are always scary.
The more I use it, the more I like it. Scaling at 100% is good on a 1280x1024 monitor.
Lots of older users here, so large type is better, LOL.
I see the old Emojis are gone in favor of the (boring) standard ones you see everywhere. Oh well.

Thank you Ryan. For keeping Garage Journal going, for updating it so it can keep going into the future.

I have gained a lot from the forum over the years. I wish I could say I gave back as much as I took but I know that's not true.

Ryan looks great here love the format!
When I tried to log on and saw that you were upgrading software I realized just how much I missed logging onto the Garage Journal.
I can appreciate all the hard work before hand, and the stress when you finally take down the working site, and start the upgrade process.

Nice job take a needed kick back your up and working. I'm sure any bugs will be ironed out.

Tapatalk is giving me hell. They want access to your data in exchange for the migration. I am refusing... and will not do that under any circumstances. In any case, that's why the app isn't working right now. And also why the mobile look and feel is super important to me.

I for one completely support you for standing your ground here. Tapatalk is an easy way out for many, but yeah, they're pretty evil. Another forum I frequent made a similarly large upgrade last year and also dumped Tapatalk, and while it took a little time to get used to the differences, with solid mobile support in the new site you're better off not looking back.

So, go and get your well earned rest. Put a pin in the little stuff for later. You'll be tracking things down for months, and you'll be more likely to fix it right the first time when you're not sleep deprived.

If it makes you feel any better, I've been in the middle of a huge upgrade for a well known commercial site (a globally familiar brand I will not disclose) that was cut over to new systems last week (it too is load balanced, but at multiple layers as well, and it lives on 30+ systems). We've been all-hands-on since last week dealing with major stability issues (individual back-end containers falling down every hour or less). It's been so bad, that we haven't even had time to address user complaints yet, though corporate is still ok with the performance, since there has been zero customer impact (thank god).

hit quote, then hit reply. worked for me...

The +Quote button is for multi-quoting. The Reply button will quote the post you hit the reply on. If you don't want to quote a post just reply using the post editor at the bottom of the thread.

With xenforo you can also highlight specific text of a post & an option will pop up to multi-quote or quote just that text you highlighted.

When multi-quoting, you'll see the option/button to insert the quoted posts at the bottom of the post editor.
