What I just did is child's play to you homie... I do not envy that at all...
LOL, I thankfully only manage the hosting end, which I have down to a science. There are several teams supporting the applications, not to mention the network, storage and infosec teams that have their roles to play as well, so the burden is far from on my shoulders alone.
Everyone had been preparing for months with extensive planning and testing. 9 hours into a "30 minute" cut-over conference call and we discovered a piece of ancient functionality had never been considered by one dev team, and that calling that link post-upgrade would take down an application server with one click. And of course, no amount of testing in staging ever equates real user traffic. Fun times.
