OP
Really enjoying the updates. Yes i want to see more pictures of the cobra. Everytime I see this thread I think of the Odd Thomas books by Dean Koontz. I do not normally like his books but enjoyed the Odd Thomas books. If you are a reader might want to give them a try.
I am surprised that you do not have a garage or carport for the daily drivers to get them out of the sun. Or is that coming? You say it is not to warm there, but you are in a desert.
As we retire, we will be looking at car ports for the DD's as they will be home much more. The side porch cover was built with a generous overhang and gutters so my lovely wife can enter or exit her van without getting wet on rainy days. Me on the other hand, I will look like a wet dog coming and going on rainy days.
I think it's something like 8 bucks more a sheet. That sounds like a lot but, man, this stuff is worth it. I'm not set on what type of roofing materials we'll use yet but I know, for sure what sheathing we'll be using.
Which brings me to an off topic comment, why in the world do we still construct homes using outdated materials and methods? I see some really great innovations and materials being used commercially but residential builders (as a whole) aren't following suit.

Having worked in remodeling again for most of the last decade I can tell you that it is because 90% of the people are too cheap to put it in their own home. Had a friend who is a roofer yesterday tell me that he lost a sale to a coworker of my wife over $100 to someone who we know has no workers comp.
Workers comp for roofing was 48% of payroll the last time I checked. Telling someone that their roof job would cost an extra $400 for 50 sheets of sheathing which is more energy efficient when they will take the "contractor" who has no comp coverage. A business realizes more about long term costs where people in their home generally want the cheapest price. I would be happy to have a little less stress on my HVAC system.
AMEN!!I would be happy to have a little less stress on my HVAC system.
Factory 5? Certainly like like the aluminum firewall. The "continuation" Cobras are more refined and perform better than the originals across the board. Your a lucky guy. No doubt about it.

Finallygotit Awesome.FGI: i love that car and even more so now when you showed us the insides of it. WOW.
so i bet not owning two homes, having a good portion of your remodel done at Odd Acres, and having your Cobra parked close to you so you can drive it at a minute's notice will ease up the stress on you and hopefully you'll never ever ever have another HEART ATTACK. you also look like one happy guy standing there next to your Cobra!!
things are really shaping up at ODD ACRES and i'm still looking for the ODD portion cause everything looks good to my eyes.
cheers
Finallygotit Awesome.
Thank you for sharing..

.....or insane.
FG, I can see that the pics you posted have not been looked at in detail....no one has commented that the hose clamps have not been clocked!!
Seriously that is very nice work.

OK, if you insist. Here's a pic of the car and the ugly sod that built it.

......Do you know the urban myth about AC and the British speed limits ?.......
Steve.
Steve,
No, I haven't heard about that one but I would like to hear about it.

Is that the one where in preparation for Lemans they tested the car(s) early in the morning on a major road with long straits....the media caught on that they hit 185 and there was a huge uproar?
Yes, and you type waaaay faster than I.
Is that the one where in preparation for Lemans they tested the car(s) early in the morning on a major road with long straits....the media caught on that they hit 185 and there was a huge uproar?
ok, in 1964 the UK had no speed limits on some unrestricted roads and the M1 out of London being one of them. AC were based just out side London, Thames Ditton(?), and were preparing for that years Le Mans, they and a few other teams used to speed test the motors at 4am up and down the motorway, and Jack Sears their driver was calculated to have hit 185mph, the story found its way into the papers and he had to lay low for awhile.
Two years later the 70mph speed limit was introduced, manly because of the rising accident death toll, but not helped by the AC Cobra hoohaa.
Regards
Steve.

Great work on the sheds, house, whole property... you ever get the front gate dialed in? Shot? That must have hurt.

FGI: so were you DE BUGGING the house maybe? i've heard scorpions and maybe snakes and a few other critters tend to be a hassle down there in GOD'S WAITING ROOM.
so other than a Cobra any of those other critters giving you any grief? if it makes you happy i didn't notice any UN CLOCKED SCREWS!!
cheers

we pulled up all the carpet we had except for the bedrooms and replaced it with vinyl planks last year. only thing i would do different is use the heavier gauge vinyl. the thinner stuff shows any underlying imperfection. good luck-that is hard on the knees.Wow. She needs a pair of slippers!
Buuuuuut she shuffles enough as it is and trips on any surface imperfection when wearing those puppies.
i agree on the red and white floor.we pulled up all the carpet we had except for the bedrooms and replaced it with vinyl planks last year. only thing i would do different is use the heavier gauge vinyl. the thinner stuff shows any underlying imperfection. good luck-that is hard on the knees.

I'm with ya on the red & white tiles for sure, that floor is a bit LOUD.![]()

FGI, I suspect someone said to the previous owners "Don't be afraid to use bold colors" without realizing their taste was confined to their mouths. When you make a choice like that, you can't expect top dollar for your home.
I was thinking of keeping a couple of those tiles. Then the thought passed.
BTW, you should have seen the room when it had some blue walls.![]()

FGI: was the checkerboard room an old craft room or maybe even the original garage? up for a nice game of chess or checkers?
The CG (Converted Garage) room used to be a party/music room that the male portion of the PO's really liked. The female portion of the PO's said it was hardly used and she never liked it.I sensed a bit of friction there.
so tell me you are not replacing all the tile in your kitchen which is what i think you are doing? i might tend to retile the entire house instead of re doing the kitchen, but HAPPY WIFE, HAPPY LIFE!!
Yep, we are. We were going to do the CG room and decided that, since we're going to have a mess, would do the rest of the house.
good luck and maybe your new floor is already put down the way you tell a story on this thread and you are just keeping us in the plot?
Actually demo is scheduled to start this Monday the 27th; just when I have to go to Detroit for some training. My lovely wife will be supervising (she's the GC) while I'm away. She is more than capable to crack the whip.
cheers

FGI, did you look at the cushioned vinyl? We had some in our last house and it is very nice to walk on in your socks!
