If you want the Maximum capability from only one welder an AC/DC Stick welder can weld anything from razor blades to Steel Bridges.
As much as I love stick welding, that isn't really true. If you expand beyond steel stick welding either falls way short, or simply can't be used. Sure, it's possible to stick weld aluminum, but it's really only done in a pinch when there isn't a proper way available. Most other materials....forget it.

Stick weld razor blades.....LOL...okay. They're hard to weld with a good TIG welder that will start at low amps. Maybe some magician can pull that off with a stick welder, but normal people can't.

A good AC/DC TIG welder can simply weld more materials than any other machine. Yes, they get expensive when you need a lot of power, but cost is different than capability. Yes, the process is slower than stick, but speed is also different than capability. The nice thing is most decent TIG welders are also good stick welders. My Syncrowave 250DX TIGRunner is a fantastic stick welder, but I never use it that way....have an engine drive setup for stick.

You can use your Stick Welder to power a TIG torch.

Yes, but only the most basic TIG welding with that sort of setup and a far cry from even an inexpensive dedicated TIG welder.

Anything that can be welded can be TIG welded. Not everything that can be welded can be stick welded.

I'd say my statement still stands....normal people can't do that. Like the headline says, it's a stunt.

Oh, I totally agree with you. I wasn't trying to start an argument or anything, I just happened to have seen that thread and thought you might find it interesting.
