I have a 450 gallon Polypropylene slip tank used for wildland firefighting. The tank is in great shape however the top of the tank has a split at the weld. Someone had previously tried to repair using a soldering iron it appears. The repair area is several inches long. I assume the tank is likely welded inside and out on each joint except the top for obvious reasons. The material is 1/2" thick. I'm looking for the appropriate welder, techniques and consumables necessary for repair. Thanks all!.

Start your research here. Plastic welding is like any other weld process. Know the parent material, cleaning procedures, temperature, cover gas if needed, and fill materials.
