Welding helmet storage

Yes, I admit I have a sickness or fetish for welding helmets. I have about 12 different welding helmets, some I use all the time, some I use seldom, some I have because they’re cool(Huntsman 411P with a vintage Harris gold lens).
I need a way to store these helmets without hanging them over a cylinder or some such. I do not want to put them in drawers or cabinets.
Any ideas?

I only have one helmet, but I keep it in an antique barrister book case with glass doors. I got it for free on CL and it does a good job of keeping it clean when not being used.

Looks like they have a 19" size that might be good for a welding helmet.
(Maybe use this as an idea and weld up your own version?)

1 old t-shirt, 1 boot lace. Drawstring bag for helmet.

Sew each arm shut, sew neck shut. Fold the bottom about 1 inch over the bootlace, making a tunnel for the boot lace.
Sew around the bottom, make the tunnel but don't sew the boot lace. Leave about 1/2" unsewn, ends stick out, tie ends of boot lace together. Takes me about 5 min tops. Hang lace over the tank valve.

My Lincoln Viking came with a drawstring bag, but it's a funky shape that doesn't make much sense. Maybe it was made out of an old T-shirt?

A different idea just popped in my head. A wall of milk crates and a tie died blanket over them. ???? WTH

I keep mine in a small garbage bag and seal it and put them on a shelf.

Always kept them on cylinder or lens side up on the table when in use. When done with the job I put them over the brow tines on random antler mounts on the wall.

This is why I asked here. This might work well. In my case It might work better hanging from the ceiling out of the way.

Done that before and the ones I don't use often end up with fuched up headgear from hanging off the headgear.
My most often used helmet sits on my gloves on my mig welder and a fender cover goes over it all.

This is why a shelf isn’t the solution. It’s not the hoard it looks like, I do many different things in the shop and it works(for the most part) for me.

The area around my welder wall is very busy too. This layered approach has worked for me. I cooked up a thin steel door with four hooks either side secured to a pole by self closing hinges. Sometimes when the boys come over for a project I get their helmets hanging for a while but eight hooks is usually plenty for me and I ran out of room to make it longer.

I do most of the dirty work outside the main shop through an adjacent door which allows for open hood storage. Before I added more open air fab space I still kept the welding stuff around a corner from the heavy grit producing action. Ed.

I like the box idea. We have coat hooks at the top of an old wall mounted chalk board at the makerspace. Each hood is stuffed in a plastic bag then hung on a hook. Is a pain to deal with.
